“It was ok”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2010

It depends what you expect. We went there on Labor day. The hotel prices around that weekend, as you might have guessed, were much highter that they normally are. We stayed at Ogunquit River Plantation. The price was ok comparing to the other hotels. The hotel looked clean and relatively quite. The view from back porch was pretty nice. The only downside is it is farther from town center than I thought. It is walkable, probable around 30 minutes if you are in reasonable good shape. But it was not suitable for us since we have a 2 and half year old. There is trolly you can take (for a fee). Forget about driving. It is so hard to find parking at the town center. Overall, the hotel was Ok. If you are looking for something affordable and quite, i would recommend this place. By the way, their continental breakfast is the best I had for free.

“Very Good Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 September 2010

We booked this for a couple of nights before returning to UK after a week at Bar Harbour. It was very very good value for money. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was large and comfortable and the whole place was lovely and clean. Breakfast was basic but that is what you expect. Plenty of coffee and more importantly for Brits - tea! We did well for the Internet as our room was below the lobby so we got in-room access! The trolley bus took us where we wanted to go so we left the car behind. We would definitely recommend this hotel - if you want four star book and pay for it!!

“Nice option in Ogunquit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 September 2010

This is on 1A, slightly away from the hustle and bustle of Ogunquit. If you want to be right in the thick of things, this isn't it. However you get a lot of room for your money, free parking, and there's a nice outdoor heated pool and jacuzzi which is fun to get into in the evening. Service was good, rooms were clean and adequately sized, and very easy to get to all the restaurants and shops in town. We had connecting rooms with my sister and the kids loved sharing the deck with them, overlooking the river. I was in the area again recently and wished we stayed here instead of where we did (microtel in york).

“Nice place to stay!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 August 2010

This was a very last minute vacation and our first to Ogunquit ME, and part of the decision to try this hotel were the reviews found here on Trip Advisor. I booked the night before, and we were travelling mid-week. Ours was a 2 night stay.

First off, the location of the hotel was much better than I had expected, so I was already prepared to give it a thumbs up just for that. The young lady who greeted and checked us in was very pleasant, and to be told that we had been upgraded to a room with larger beds and a balcony was another plus. As we walked to our 3rd floor room we spotted a doe and her fawn next to the water - awesome view!

The room was average, but very clean. The A/C unit gave off a smell that was a bit off-putting (time to clean the filter?), but once turned off and opened up the patio door the smell went quickly. The small room fridge was a bonus, next time around we will be sure to be better equipped to take advantage of it.

The free hourly shuttle to/from the beach was a huge plus, loved this extra service and the driver Bob was also very helpful in suggesting places to dine or local points of interest that would also be worth visiting.

The continental breakfast was ok, and the dining area had a great view. My only comment would be to add a few more fresh fruits to the menu - only precut halved bananas were offered. Unfortunately our first morning we had to share the breakfast area with a busload of teenagers at summer camp. Finding seating or trying to get into the little room where the food was located was near impossible for some people - however I doubt this is a frequent case and sure enough the next morning everything was fine. The teenagers also monopolized the pool, so what with roughhousing, yelling at each other and 3-4 of them at a time doing cannons bombs into the water, so no one else could enjoy it. I did not take us long to leave, too dangerous!

All in all we had a great trip. I have suggested this location to friends who I knew were going to be travelling to that area of Maine in August, and I would stay again. It's the view and the staff make this place worth staying at.

“Our family loved our stay at the Ogunquit River Plantation!”

We had multiple rooms for our family, three different generations were represented. This hotel and location were ideal for us! Our rooms looked out to the winding Ogunquit River and beyond that the Atlantic Ocean :o) Our visit coincided with the full moon and what an awesome place to see it from. The kids and I spend each night down at the pool (after the grandparents had gone to bed). A great pool and hot tub - perfect for the end of the day. The nearby beaches are beautiful and an easy trolley ride away. And of course we started out each moring with continental breakfast - which had something for all of us. A lot to do and see in the area ... our only regret was that we couldn't stay longer!
