“On Ogunquit line, close to beach and shops, great family value during Busy July 4th wknd!”

This is a moderate, budget type motel with a nice pool and grounds for grilling and play.

Just know that It is very dated re decor and overall condition. We chose this place as it was Very affordable for 3 generations of 4 people as they offer rooms that have 2 separate bedrooms and a sleeper sofa and small kitchen area.

Also, the trolley to both Ogunquit and Wells stops right on the property.

A continental bfast is included as well with great local donuts, cereal, bagels, milk, juice etc.

Although dated, the rooms are clean and comfy enough. Enjoy!

“A pleasant surprise!”

My wife and me recently spent a few days in the area and we stayed at the Majestic Regency. It was a first time for us and we really didn't know what to expect based on the very reasonable room rates. But lo and behold! We were pleasantly surprised and from now on, when I read some negative reviews about the overall condition of the establishment, I will silently reply to the critics; telling them to consider the price they paid.
If they are looking for a ultra clean, modern, fancy accommodation where one finds two chocolates on the pillows at these rates, they will have to look far and long!
Yes, the premises are a bit outdated but generally speaking we found nothing bad to say about this place and we would gladly return without any hesitation!
To Liam and Mary: Go néiri an tadh leat. Adh mor ort!!
No, I don't speak gaelic and I hope it says exactly what I wanted to say :-) Thank you internet!!

Joe

“Perfect place for traveling with kids!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2011

This was the only place available during 4th of July week, so we booked 3 rooms together, as there were 10 of us traveling, including 4 children. Ended up being the perfect place for us.

It's most certainly not a Hilton, Hyatt, or Doubletree, as the property is very outdated, however, what it may lack in decor and modern amenities, it makes up for in charm and family hospitality. The grounds on the property are quite large, and offers many activities including a swimming pool, tennis court, badminton, basketball, shuffleboard, and many picnic tables and outdoor grills. We made use of everything but the shuffleboard. The trolley comes right into the property to take you downtown, and to the beach, which is minutes away.

Everyone, from the front desk staff, to the ground keeper, are very friendly and welcoming. It was a packed house during 4th of July week, but you felt a sense of community there. It was nice.

The rooms were literally straight out of the 70's, and smelled like Lysol. The lawn chairs outside each room were a nice touch, and gave it a homey feeling, as we sat outside just before sunset, enjoying a cold beer, watching the kids play basketball. One afternoon there was a big storm approaching, with crazy storm clouds forming, and everyone was just sitting outside of their rooms on the lawn chairs, while one guy was playing his guitar, and everything just felt perfect!

When we first arrived in our big passenger van, I can see eyes rolling at the sight of this outdated property. The day we were checking out, no one wanted to leave. That pretty much sums it up!

“Good Homebase for Southern Maine”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 September 2011

We have been guests here many times dating back from the time the legendary Harry owned the place. Since Liam has been at the helm, he has made changes and improvements gradually. No massive facelift but some nice little perks like the improved and updated pool and large pool towels. The BBQ's on the green are efficient, the tables are in good condition and the rooms have new carpeting. Granted, it's not for the super fussy and you are not on the beach but the Trolley stops here, Liam and the staff are very accomodating, and the pool is spotless.
In the common room where breakfast is provided things can get messy but most guests are tidy...and the biggest plus is that there are three refrigerators where you can put perisables. We bought a wonderful cooked chicken and a couple of salads at De Moulas after a day at the outlets and had it in the common roomalong with a huge group from Quebec and another bunch of knitting devotees. It was fun, friendly and from our point of view...the ideal place for our annual escape to Maine.

Room Tip: Call ahead and find out exactly what's available.

“A good alternative”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

The majority of the B&B's were full this lovely late summer weekend, but we managed to find a room available at the Majestic. The price was very reasonable for the location, a few blocks from the beach and a few minutes down the road from the heart of Ogunquit. We recieved a confirmation call about 8pm to verify that we were definetly coming, got to the hotel about 930, a very pleasant greeting, easy check in. Kind of braced ourselves since the price was so low - but found a nice, clean and basic room waiting for us. The artwork is newer...but the 20" basic TV, and the flowered 70's style bedspread could use some updating (oh, and a couple more pillows on the king size beds too)...just a heads up ;-). The continetal breakfast was typical...but the donut and fritters selection were wonderful. Surprisingly a very nice stay...will probably be back in the future.
