... my boyfriend and i stayed three nights at the Cranberry Hill Inn, and were thrilled with our choice. the cranberry hill inn is walking distance to southwest harbor, so we could simply walk down to dinner in town and not have to get in the car. patti, the owner, was a font of knowledge about places to go and things to see, and she is an excellent cook. i can not say enough about the wonderful breakfasts that she prepared for us. our room had a sitting area with a private back entrance, and was very comfortable and immaculately clean. there were books and movies that we could borrow, which was a lovely touch.
the only caveat i would give is that our room (the Down East Suite) would not be a good choice for light sleepers or late risers. when we checked in, patti warned us that the walls were thin. we did not realize until 6:00 am the next morning, however, that our room, and out bed, was directly under the dining room. every noise echoed. as i am an early riser, this wasn't a problem for me at all. but light sleepers might want to ask for a room away from the common rooms. overall, however, i would definitely go back!
