“Business Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 February 2012

As a local business leader, I rely on the Cafe Dry Dock to provide rooms for clients and other visitors to stay. I am pleased to say that everyone I have had stay in one room or another at Cafe Dry Dock has had a great experience there. It is important for me to know that their experience is good while they are here on business. Thanks to Marty and John for keeping a clean, fresh and relaxing place for my clients to stay in!

“Nice comfy stay”

The Drydock Inn is more of a guesthouse than a hotel. The owners are hardworking friendly folk but don't expect to get a lot of attention-- they are busy with running the restaurant and the Inn. We enjoyed our stay, the room was very clean, comfortable and well kept. We actually stayed in two different rooms, one on the north side of the building and one on the south side. There is a working kitchen downstairs for the restaurant, so the room on the south side caught the odors of what was cooking-- but the air conditioner was quiet and blocked the odors, so just close the window and turn on the A/C. We visited Bar Harbor during our stay and were glad that we were not staying there-- no real character and no Maine flavor. SW Harbor was much more "Maine" for us.

Room Tip: We found room #8 had a quieter A/C than room #5 and also a kitchenette-- but it had double beds inst...

“Clean, but smelling bad”

The room we stayed in seemed to be pretty clean and neat. Nice and pleasant owners. Tasty food in the restaurant downstairs. We parked for free on police parking lot just a block away. BUT!!! the smell in the room horrible, like if someone was smoking there non-stop. Or possibly it was just a stinky odor from the old furniture (VERY old beds and mattresses). We couldn't get the smell out, not with fan on nor with windows opened (we couldn't really open the window until 11 pm 'cause kitchen was right below our room and all food smell just went up). Secondly, the beds were awful. Boxspring was so broken that almost touched the floor. And every time you turn, the bed was squeaking so load that everyone woke up. First night we almost didn't sleep. Beds definitely have to be replaced there! I don't like to leave a bad review, because the place itself was nice and quiet, only half an hour drive to Acadia park, plus owners are very pleasant, but our experience there was bad: constant headache from smell and sleepless night. Maybe that was just our room. Hopefully, other guests were luckier

This review has really puzzled us and we were unaware of any problems in the room. Every matteress and box spring in our inn was replaced in May 2010 with high quality beds. Smoking is not allowed in our rooms and our cleaning staff is viligant of this as we will charge the offender for cleaning the entire room of oders. We are at a loss as to the smell as we have checked the room and it did not smell before your arival or after. The beds are also not broken or are on the floor as stated. If you had contacted us during your stay we could have addressed your issue or refunded your money. We want all our patrons to have a pleasant stay with us in our community. We are sorry for your inconvience, John and Marty Williams.

“What fun we had”

My husband and I stayed in Room #1 - a little suite actually. It was clean, well equipped and the bed was really comfy. We ate in the restaurant downstairs - all our meals and appetizers etc were really really good. Among the 6 of us taking a long weekend, we had rooms 1, 2 and 8. Everyone was happy, we ate well and we slept well. We even rode our mountain bikes from there to the Acadia entrace at Eagle Lake - only 10 miles, and it made me feel less guilty about having dessert that evening (we then rode 17.8 on the carriage trails). Overall I'd rate it a 10+ and give the owners a big thank you for making the weekend fun and stress free.

“We loved our stay and will be back”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 August 2011

This was our second year staying at the Inn. Their location made it so easy to get to everything. This year we did the bike trails in the park. We were able get the shuttle around the corner from the Inn at the post office. Shuttles have bike carriers and are FREE and go anywhere you would like. We took the Shuttle to Eagle Lake near Bar Harbor and road our bikes around the Park for 4 hours. Returned Eagle Lake and took the Shuttle to downtown Bar Harbor then Back to Southwest Harbor to the Cafe Drydock & Inn, way to easy!!
The folks at the Inn were so helpful in answering any of our questions. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. We have booked our rooms for next year. that right rooms. We had some friends along this year. They Liked it so much they are joining us again for next year.
