“Nice Inn”

My husband and I stay in this area every summer to attend the Bucksport Bay Festival, normally we stay in Bucksport but decided to try a more personal visit by staying in a B&B just outside of town instead.

The outside of the Inn is absolutely beautiful. The color scheme is warm and inviting and the gardens are gorgeous. It is set back off the main road enough that road traffic was not an issue, with plenty of private parking.

The inside of the Inn is average with a lot of antiques in every room. There is a tv in one of the parlor rooms if you need a fix, otherwise there are a lot of quiet places to just sit and relax. My husband and I especially liked sitting outside on the front porch that overlooks a small part of the bay.

We stayed in the Waldo Pierce Room. Our room was large with a private bath that had a clawfoot tub. Decor was somewhat mismatched with old and new (antique furniture, newer carpet, old tub, new toilet and sink). We did have an issue with the bed being uncomfortable, it was very hard and sagged in the middle and the pillows were very flat and hard as well. We did not get a good night sleep our first night. The next morning we did mention this to the innkeeper and she was very helpful in rectifying the situation for us. The next night's sleep was much better after she flipped the mattress and added an egg crate.

Breakfast the first day was fine. We had french toast, sausage and fresh fruit with coffee, tea and juice. Due to illness we had to leave early and missed our second breakfast of our stay.

The innkeeper was very helpful with tips and ideas of where to eat in the area and was very accomodating. Overall the Inn is nice and clean, convenient to Belfast or Bucksport, and cozy.

Room Tip: Try to stay in the Captains Quarters room if available

“Wonderful Place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 July 2011

We stayed at this lovely B and B for six nights. We moved from the smaller Rose Room to the large Captain's Quarters because it looked so nice. The room was huge and charming and the bed was so comfortable! The hosts were very accommodating and friendly. The whole inn is historic and quite lovely with large and inviting common rooms. This is a great place to stay in mid-coast Maine - the prices are reasonable, the location is convenient, the breakfast is delicious, and place is quiet and charming.

“Favorite B&B in Maine”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 October 2010

The Carriage House Inn in Searsport Maine is the most beautiful B&B I have ever stayed in. The history of the home is gladly shared by the owner while enjoying her excellent breakfasts. Searsport is located close to Camden and Bar Harbor which makes it perfect for day trips. I have been to Inn several times and have taken many friends as I love this area so much. Seems like I can't ever get enough lobster, lupines or lighthouses... I would highly reccommend the Carriage House Inn.

“LOVELY BED & BREAKFAST”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 September 2010

My husband and I spent 5 days at the Carriage House in Searsport. We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful historic house which, at one time, was own by Waldo Pierce a very well known painter. It was also visited by guests such as Ernest Hemingway and the memorabilias in the house are quite interesting in that regards. Our room was very clean and comfortable. The breakfasts were delightful and served by our wonderful host Marcia Markwardt who will help you enjoy every moment of your visit. The Inn is very well located which gave us the opportunity to visit all the beautiful sea ports in that area including Rockland, Camden, Belfast, Bar Harbour, the Anacostia National Park and many beautiful lakes all within 1 or 2 hrs drive.

“Absolutely amazing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 February 2010

I have been fortunate enough to stay at the Carriage House Inn a number of times and I am never dissapointed. Marcia is a wonderful hostess with an amazing knowledge of the area. She was able to reccomend things to do and places to eat. The view from the Inn is beyond compare, looking out at the ocean in the morning was beautiful, and then enjoying a great homecooked breakfast just put it over the top. There is a wonderful history to the Carriage House Inn and the town of Searsport and Marcia is happy to share all she knows. I will continue to stay there whenever I visit the great state of Maine.
