“Truly the dirtiest hotel I have ever stayed in...”

I was traveling on business and originally reserved the room for two nights. I stayed here about four years ago and it was clean and the rooms were well-kept. I only stayed one night and went to another place for the second night.
The bedding was torn, the carpet was stained, the kitchen area was dirty, the box spring was stained and ripped. I slept in my sweats and never let my bare feet touch the floor.
To sum it up YUCK!!!

“This place is bad, pay more to stay elsewhere”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2011

Stayed here for 3 nights in late Sept, early Oct 2011. Booked the room thru PL. I've stayed here 4 years ago and it was a clean, no frills hotel with a mini kitchen. I guess they just opened back then. Anyway, this time we booked 2 rooms and we were given standard PL rooms: next to the elevator. That didn't bother us that much but what did bother us was the smell of both rooms when you first walk in. We had to open up the windows and turn on the AC (in late Sept) to get rid of the smell. I later traced the smell in one room to burnt crust inside the microwave which looked like it haven't been cleaned in 4 years. The dirty carpet looks like it's way overdue for some cleaning too.

Then we saw a letter on the counter of the kitchen saying Orkin (Pest Control) will be in the premise with a canine to inspect the hotel. I usually inspect the beds for bed bugs when I travel but after seeing this letter, I was inspecting the rooms like Sherlock Holmes. This caused 3 nights of worrying whether or not we will wake up with bites all over. During my inspection of the beds, I found small traces of blood stains on the sheets.

One of the rooms had bad plumbing, water in the tub took 30 mins to drain. The shower fixture trickled water out like a camp site shower. Although we didn't get bitten during our stay, we all agreed we would have paid double to stay somewhere else. This place really went down hill since the last time we stayed here 4 years ago. It's all the way down to the pits. I'm usually easy to please and don't complaint much or write bad reviews but this place was horrific.

Pros: Cheap, free parking

Cons: Dirty/smelly rooms, possible pests control issues, blood stained sheets, bad plumbing

“Was not as bad as other review have been saying”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

My friend and I stayed here for one night for Labor Day weekend. It was a spur of the moment trip and we got this hotel on priceline for $70 the night before. Once we read the reviews we were very nervous since there were so many bad reviews. I have to tell you, the hotel is not has bad as expected. The room was clean, our sheets were clean, the matress was not soft but not hard as a rock. The room did have a hit of cigerette smoke but not terrible. The elevator was broken but we were staying on the first floor so it wasnt a problem for us. The girl at the front desk was very nice and help up.

To be honest it really wasnt bad at all, especially for getting the room the night before. Although it is 15-20 minutes from downtown Portland, if you are in a bind and need a cheap place to stay its perfect.

“going down hill”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 August 2011

We stayed at this hotel many times over the years. Recently it began to go down hill. It is no longer clean and the beds are not very comfortable. Unless we hear that there is a change in management or it is otherwise turned around our last stay will be just that. Too bad, it's a good location with good rates.

“Can only be described as filthy.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 August 2011

When we first arrived we were placed in a room that looked fine, but then found out it was not a smoking room which I had booked. We were moved to another room that can only be described as nasty. There were urine stains on the sides of mattress apparently from a dog and on the floor around the bed. There were blood stains and huge tears in the chairs. The toilet looked like it hadn't been cleaned since the last occupants left. There was no silverware except for a spatula in the drawer, and the toaster was crusty with filth. The phone was disgusting and I had to use my cell phone to call the front desk. I do not believe there was a piece of carpet in the room that wasn't stained so we didn't dare remove our shoes. We were scheduled to stay for 5 nights but we checked out after only one night and it would have been sooner if I hadn't been dealing with making the funeral arrangements for my Mother, which is why we were in Maine. We took pictures of the disgusting room and I had planned to fight to get my money back, but with everything else going on, I decided to just let it go and to never come back to this hotel or suggest it to anyone I know.

Room Tip: Pay the extra for a nice place...it's worth it.
