My husband has summered in Maine for over 60 years in the Boothbay Region of Maine, where the family gathers in the summer, and we make a trip each year from Charlotte, NC. This year we decided to discover a part of Maine that we've never been. We traded our Marriott at Hilton Head for a week at the Rangley Lake Resort Sept 24 - Oct. 2. We left the cottage on the ocean and fog, and headed northwest 120 miles to Rangeley. It was manificent. Imagine mountains covered in the most amazing colors reflected in lakes too numerous to mention. The cottage we were given was a very small duplex; however, when I explaied that we had traded a 3 bedroom and had friends joining us, the staff at Rangley Lake Resort, moved us the next day as promised to a spacious 3 bedroom at no extra cost. We were connected to internet. The bedrooms were spacious and bathrooms just fine. Log cabins are scattered about the property and it is less than a half mile walk to Rangeley Lake. Monday night's bonfire at the Lake is a must to visit with people from all over and have s'mores. We took many scenic drives; toured the Lake arranged by the resort. An IGA is next to the resort for anything you want. Rangley and its neighboring town Oussic are very small, but there are some good restaurants at reasonable prices, but we chose to eat in most meals. Our friends canoes each day. My husand is embarrassed that it took him 60 years to find the perfect spot in Maine.
