“Avoid, if you can”

We knew nothing about this place other than being told about likely availability when our preferred hotels in Portland were full. Clearly, had we read these TripAdvisor reviews, we would not have gone there because our experiences mirrored those of others. The place is not well maintained, and the room was outdated and didn't feel very clean at all. It was not well-lit either with the room blocks situated well back behind the front office. A very strange layout. We will definitely not return here!

“Bring your Fabreeze”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 August 2007

We choose this hotel because of the picture of the lovely pool. It is a very old picture. The pool was half empty and closed. It's about 15 minutes from the waterfront, right next to I-95, behind a derelict restaurant. There are piles of trash next to the parking lot. The whole place smelled musty. They would not give us the non smoking rooms we reserved because they said they were sold out but there were never more than 5 cars in our part of the parking lot and all the non smoking rooms were very quiet. We went out and bought some Fabreeze and sprayed the rooms down. Even the soda machine was smashed and we didn't dare look for ice. We will make sure we read reviews so we don't make this mistake again.

  • Disliked — Not clean, piles of trash, musty smell, trashed pool

“A Dump”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 August 2007

I just stayed in this place last night and have never written a review before but do read them prior to travelling. I must have missed on this one!
DO NOT STAY HERE..IT IS A DUMP
Smell in the hallway is deplorable and got worse when we entered Rm 408. I called front desk to switch room and she told me someone would be right down. Two gentlemen did come down and had opened 406 to show us that room. Slight improvement because I think they had sprayed something before we went in. He told me 408 smells because it is a smoking room. I have smoked for 40 years and this wasn't smoke. Mildew smell in the pillows also. Burn mark on tub from cigarette use, no alram clock, past guests have started to write their names on the bathroom wall and we had to call and request bath towels in the morning from the front desk. Pool is empty and full of trash. Denny's next door is good and gives you a respite from the hell hole room! Staff did try to help but should really consider selling property. Board of Health should be notified.

“OMG-How can this still be open????”

This property should be shut down by the health department. Our room smelled and included bugs, a non-working phone, and a moldy ice bucket. The swimming pool was full of of trash floating in septic green water. We requested extra towels and as the clerk went to get them instead came out empty handed running from the mice. We never got the towels. I was called a liar when I reported the bugs and the mold so I delivered the evidence to the front desk in person. Avoid this property.

Smelly, terrible stench. Please avoid this place. We booked online, had a terrible fight to get our money back. We would have rather slept in the car with our 2 kids then put them thru the smell and obvious evidece of mold. The front desk girl couldn't care less.
