“Loved everything”

I love to travel, explore new locations and meet interesting people. If there's one place I loook forward to returning to, it's The West End Inn in Portland. What a great city, offering unbelievable food, charming neighborhoods, great sites to see and unique places to shop. Don't miss the Portland Art Museum, free on Friday evenings too. On both weekend stays I enjoyed this year, the host at the West End Inn couldn't have been nicer nor more knowledgeable about the area. She made wonderful restaurant and tour recommendations. As a single, female traveler, it's a lot of fun to meet new people and during the gourmet breakfast everyone shares details of their dinners the night before and plans for the day. There were couples just engaged, celebrating birthdays and those making the most of a weekend getaway. Everyone was very friendly and I felt right at home.

“Perfect, relaxing weekend away”

My fiance and I stayed here when visiting Portland for a weekend getaway from Boston. It is a beautiful inn with excellent service. The location is quite charming and easily walkable to the downtown area. We stayed in Room 1 which was so nice and had a private porch. I was nervous when I initially booked it because it is on the first floor and didn't know if there would be lot of noise disturbance. It ended up being TOTALLY fine because there is entryway in the room that allows you to close an inner door to the bedroom. So essentially you have two doors to block out any noice in the evening or the morning when others start having breakfast. Breakfast was excellent - first course was freshly baked blueberry muffin with melon, and second course was greek egg fritatta with english muffin and chicken sausage. The innkeeper was very friendly and accommodating. One of the nicest things was that there was not a two-night minimum to stay, even in peak foliage season. This was great for us, considering that we weren't able to drive up until Saturday morning and most other hotels and inns had a 2 or 3 night minimum. All around, it was a great stay and we would definitely stay at the West End Inn again!

“Very comfortable and cozy- great breakfasts-Sarah is very creative in the kitchen! The bed was very comfortable!”

We stayed at the West End for three nights as part of our fall foliage trip. Sarah was very sweet and willing to accomodate us-we spent lots of time visiting with our friends in the living area and it was very comfortable-one night Sarah brought out some cakes for us to enjoy (we were never around for the 4-6 goodies!) We spent one day traveling down the coast as far as the Nubble Lighthouse and another day in Freeport / Wiscasset (to eat the lucious lobster rolls at Red's...got there the day before it closed for the season! Lucky us!)

“A well located inn with lovely decor and ambience”

The Inn was located in an older, elegant, tree lined part of Portland and a 20 minute walk to Portland's lovely harbour shopping and restaurants streets; the sitting and dining rooms were comfortable and relaxing decorated in bright colours, modern with traditional touches such as our four poster bed. Friendly staff and a hearty breakfast set us up for the day.
