This is a great choice for an early morning flight out of Portland. Garden Inns are generally wonderful, and this is definitely up to standard. The rooms are lovely. Granite is in the bathroom. Shower pressure is great. Lighting is super. The mattresses are adjustable so you will get the right feel. The wii fii is strong and free. The rooms are immaculate. The lobby is bright and cheery. This hotel is everything the business traveller needs.
Breakfast is a buffet. It's around $8. If you don't want the full buffet you will still be charged the $8. It's a little pricey for some yogurt and and one fried egg, but oh well. The egg was fresh and tasty and the coffee was great.
As for the caveats, if you are hoping for a workout before your flight there are only two treadmills and one elliptical. I happened to score an elliptical and many people walked in and left dissapointed during my workout. This is an airport hotel. You will hear planes. Fortunately, in Portland, the planes don't really last all night long. The noise didn't bother me at all, but some of my colleagues found it annoying.
Airport is seven minutes away max, probably less. There is no convenient place to fuel up your rental between the hotel and the airport. You probably should take care of this the night before.
