Late reservation meant getting one of their less than great rooms. It had two full beds, went back to desk and got switched to a King that was available but it was small. The armory lounge is a great place for snacks and drinks, definitely has its own local crowd of young professionals. Not a fan of soap and shampoo dispensor in shower. They were renovating a part of the hotel so thats promising

I have been staying at the Portland Regency for years. The hotel is in the Old Port area of Portland. Walking distance to fantastic restaurants and other activities. The rooms are great, especially on the second floor. Most importantly, the staff is incredible. They remember my name and room preference. I always look forward to my visits to Portland, Maine so I can enjoy the Portland Regency. Best hotel in the area by far.

We just got back from our first visit to Portland and the Regency hotel.
This hotel is truly a one of a kind and I can't wait to go back !!!
Everyone we encountered was very professional friendly and accommodating from the front desk and valets to the housekeepers and concierge who was knowledgeable of current activitys and events in town. Such as the portland art museum after 5 pm when it is free to the public The room we stayed in was a normal standard room but very comfortable but the history and architecture was amazing. They are currently adding balconies to the top floor of the hotel but this did not affect us to much. There was some noise during the day but the front desk let us know this when we made our reservation's so this did not come as a surprise and was not particularly invasive. We visited the spa and found it to be very refreshing and relaxing my wife felt like a new women. The Front desk
gave us great dinner recommendation but for a late night pizza Otto's is a must. Portland is a quaint and vibrant city full of amazing food art and activitys, I highly recommend a visit to both Portland and the Regency

Housed in a former armory, the ambience of this hotel was great. Breakfast in the restaurant in front of the fireplace was great. The lounge, which specializes in martinis, was fabulous. Within walking distance To everything-restaurants, shops, bars. We will be going back soon!
