Room pleasant, including a comfortable chair. Pleasing decor. Bed on the small side.

Room thermostat fitted with locked cover - key held by proprietor, who displayed obvious irritation when asked to adjust the setting on our return from evening meal at local restaurant. No room TV. Disappointing DIY breakfast, restricted to muffins and coffee.

My wife and I stayed 2 nights in The Gables room, and that was 2 too many.
There is less than 30 square feet of walking space in this room, unless you're under 3 feet tall. You can touch the ceiling while laying in bed!
The breakfast was OK, but only muffins and coffee/tea.
There is no TV in the room, only in the common living rooom, but the remote didn't work.
The pictures on the web don't do justice for the cramped feeling in this room with very low sloping ceilings.

Nice B&B and very nice hosts. They are only 2 blocks from the Atlantic, so it is very accessible, and nicely decorated rooms. The two things that were a little disappointing were that the continental breakfast in the 2nd house where we stayed only served a couple of options of muffin and coffee/OJ, where evidently the main house had more food options. The 2nd was that for the three families upstairs, there was one small TV down in the lobby downstairs for the three to share, since those upstairs rooms had no TVs. If you are not a big TV watcher, then it would be no issue. The man and lady were very nice and went out of their way to draw maps of the area, as well as to recommend restaurants, etc. Nice people.

My girlfriends and I had a wonderful experience at the Atlantic Birches Inn. The rooms were quaint and clean. The owners were friendly and accommodating. Waking up in the morning to warm freshly made muffins and fruit salad with the smell of salt air brought me back to my childhood. This is the place to stay if you want a great experience in OOB that provides a quiet retreat so close to the action. Thank you Heidi and Ray for a wonderful, relaxing stay!
