“Beach across the street, walk to everything you need.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 September 2009

OOB is a very old area, most all buildings, motels, hotels and such have been there for a very long time. All seem to be redone, clean, and have friendly staff. This hotel is the same. A clean, neat motel with a fridge, and microwave. We had a view of the beach from our room. The Staff was always there to help, friendly, and available if needed. Our room had two beds, table, 2 chairs, and a large living room type chair to relax in. We were there for almost two weeks and had a wonderful time. The value of this property is unbeatable against the other close motels/hotels. We will be back again soon to enjoy the last of the summer days. We recommend this motel for value, proximity to everything, room size, and Staff.

“Don't Plan on Sleeping”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2009

My husband and weren't sure where we would stop for the night when we left for Maine. We ended up in OOB and it looked like someplace I would like to stay and wake up in the morning for a walk on the beach, which is beautiful. We ended up trying this place because it is right across the street from the beach. Well, it is also right across the street from a bar and there was a Red Sox game that night so it got very loud, also we didn't realize that the train tracks are right in back of the hotel (like with 10 feet). The beds are very saggy and pillows are limp. Bring a dryer, they don't provide one, but don't expect to use it in the bathroom. The outlet is installed too close to the corner so it wouldn't plug in. Also, bring shampoo, there was soap available but that was it as far as the complimentary toiletries most places provide. Also, around 4am a street sweeper came up and down each side of the street that you trying to sleep about 5 feet from. We should have paid the extra $60 to stay across the street facing the water, closer to the beach and further from the noise.

“Good enough!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 July 2009

It's July 3rd and we were coming up the coast (we live in NH) just to see what was around with no pre-planed destination or place to stay. My wife is very nervous when I do this - but we haven't had a dog of a place to stay yet! There were plenty of openings around OOB, but this was the most economical of what we could find.

If you plan on "seeing the sights" and not hanging around the room for the stay - then I would say this place is just fine. The room, beds (doubles) and bathroom were all neat and clean. Access to the beach was great - just across the street (about 50 paces.) It is within an earshot of the pier and there is a couple convenience stores around.

The gentleman at the front desk was very helpful and quite funny. My wife is very particular about staying at places - just passing her muster says a lot. It is NOT a full-service resort - just a hotel with decent accommodations and in a great spot.

This is our first trip to OOB. We did not know this in advance but many of the places in OOB that are not sit-down eateries only take cash. There are PLENTY of ATMs around howwever- almost every shop and and venue has at least one.

All in all, our experience here has been satisfactory so far. If there is anything else of note to add - I will.

“Pretty Terrible for the price... Typical OOB”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2008

After a day at the beach last weekend my husband & I decided we'd like to stay the night and enjoy the band & bar at The Brunswick (across the street from this hotel). We were lucky to find a vacancy in town, as anyone familair w/ OOB would know.

Lucky for us, we just needed a place to crash (we live about 2 hrs away) for the night. If we were on vacation I would have been repulsed.

We paid $142.50 for the night. The bed linens were scarily old and faded. The beds were sagging. The pillows were flat. The bathroom door wouldn't close due to an uneven bathroom floor.

Basically, this place is really old and shady. I'd recommend it for young people who are in OOB to party and hit the beach- not serious vacationers who want to relax and enjoy their hotel room/amenities.

  • Liked — Location- proximity to beach and directly across from The Brunswick
  • Disliked — gross beds, carpet, walls and bathroom

“Beware, Filthy Rooms”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 September 2007

The room we had should be condemned; travellers beware.

Fungus was growing in the bathtub. The linoleum floors of the eating area (table/chair) and bathroom had sticky layers of dirt all over it and the carpet was completely dirty.

Also, the telephone was just placed on the nightstand, not plugged in and no place to plug it in.

I have stayed in a lot of places and this was my worst experience.

  • Liked — Close to the Beach & Amusement Park
  • Disliked — Filthy
