I reserved 2 nights at a cottage online, and received no confirmation, although my credit card was charged twice immediately. The day before i was to arrive, the manager (Dennis) called to confirm my arrival plans and assured me he would credit the double billing when I checked in. He called again to confirm my arrival while I was en route. Upon arriving, I was informed there was no cottage available (it was double booked) and he could move us to the tiny room at the end and back of the building and would comp us the whole weekend (Note: the comped room had broken lightbulbs, a bathroom that I was afraid to use, disgusting towels, a rock hard and squeaky bed, and no TV -- even though he promised to bring one in). In the middle of the night, another guest entered the room with a key, and insisted he had paid for the week there. We were so distressed we left immediately, and spent hours trying to find alternate lodging (it was Labor Day weekend -- all booked up). The next morning we returned to check out and insist on our refund, and the office was locked with staff sitting outside waiting, We returned a couple hours later, and were told a refund could be issued because the power was out due to the recent hurricane. He would call in a few days to confirm all set. Of course he didn't, so we returned a week later to pressure him in person. He insisted the power was still out in the office, but a work order was pending, and we would have our credit by the next business day.. and he would call to confirm. Dennis is a con artist. I am relying on my credit ard company to resolve this matter.
