This hotel was THE WORST. We read the reviews, but didnt belive them--we should have--the rooms smelled of mold, the place was probably faboulous in the 60's but NOTHING and I mean NOTHING has been up-graded since then. Thank God we brought our own sheets--since we found an old sock while changing the bed! The maids do nothing other than check the tip envelope! We would sleep in a tent on the beach before staying at the Carolina again--lets just hope we didnt bring any unwelcome guests home with us after staying in such a run down, dirty, unkept, old hotel. BEWARE!

The hotel is right on the beach and not a far walk from the Pier. It is however VERY old and in need of updates. The room wasn't really dirty just old. The only dirty part was the box spring on the bed which someone either spilled tomato soup on or a homicide occured on it. See attached photo.

We have been going to the Carolina every 4th. of July for a 3-4 night stay for the last 10 years. I have tried a few different hotels in Old Orchard for other occassions, but the Carloina is the best by far. We stay in the room closest to the beach which has its own private deck! There is no other room at Old Orchard that is that close to the beach. Right next door is a small restaurant/bar that has outdoor entertainment. All we have to do is mix our own drinks and sit on our own deck and enjoy the free entertainment.

When I called the lady was real nice and told me all she had left was a two bed over looking the beach and we would have our own deck... and it would just cost $200.00 a night.. we got there and after checking in we could not find a parking place.... ( they have a small bar and pizza place next door.. after looking in our room.. OMG it was so gross,,, floor looking like it hadn't been vaccumed for a long time.. I would not even let my small child on the floor.. had to keep the glass door open all night cuz of the smell... looked like it was a big party house with everything falling down.. I would't stay again if they PAID me....
