“The best of everything”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 September 2007

What a wonderful experience. A very relaxing, comfortable, quiet respite. The location is great. The rooms spotless. The kitchenette furnished with everything you need – not the minimal at best, cheap stuff you find most places.

Everything works as it should. The husband of the owner couple works as a building engineer so there is a professional "on staff!"

They provide beach blankets, beach chairs, beach umbrellas. The homemade muffins and scones at breakfast are fantastic. Being a diabetic, I could only taste those my significant other enjoyed. The array of cheeses and wonderful fresh fruit would be rated fantastic by anyone as it was by me.

Room two has the best view of the ocean but it is just a bit smaller than the others. We enjoyed it greatly and were very comfortable. But if your idea of great cuisine is “supersize” and “all-you-can-eat” you might be happier with one of the other rooms.

I found this place on the internet. Their website presentation is honest, accurate, and actually quite modest in describing now nice the place really is.

They now have free wifi. If we had been there for more than just the weekend, that would have been a big plus.

The owners are very friendly and helpful in giving suggestions and directions.

Whenever we return to Old Orchard Beach, Auberge by the Sea will be our very first choice. It is the best we could hope to find. If you are a “party hardy” type, please look somewhere else.

“Wouldn't go here again”

I was so unhappy here that I was willing to not get a refund and pay someplace else to get out of here after only one night! The town itself was really touristy, with a boardwalk and neon signs and tattoo shops everywhere. There were no good restaurants within walking distance of the B&B and not really much to do there unless you want to buy a dirty t-shirt. The B&B is really small (only four rooms) and you feel like everyone can hear you inside your room. The rooms do have kitchenettes but they're too small to really do any cooking. The owner wouldn't give any sort of refund so I just sacrificed the money (we had paid for 4 nights) and left after one night. I'm so glad we did because we ended up in the most beautiful cottage in Kennebunkport.

  • Liked — View of ocean from room
  • Disliked — the town itself and smallness of the inn

“Nice, Relaxing, Quiet”

Small 4-room Inn located 20 feet from the beach. They have their own walkway.

Nice bed and breakfast style, with enought privacy.

The continental breakfast was excellent, and a fresh muffin or scone is provided and they are very good.

The hostess is extremely nice.

The 4 rooms vary in size, one is smaller and the other three are decent size.

The place is peaceful and you feel almost as though you live at the ocean.

My only complaint would be a lack of common areas. Porch seemed to be only open for breakfast.
