“What A Wonderful B&B !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2010

This was our third year, we like it so much we stayed for two weeks.
What we really appreciate is the total freedom to come and go as you please, the kitchenette allowed us to prepare simple meals and eat outside on the balcony listening to the ocean just a few steps away.
The breakfast choice is excellent, with the aroma of fresh baked bread, muffins and croissants to get your taste buds going!, plus fresh fruit, a choice of cereals , variety of cheeses, homemade jams and yogurt .
The room was spotlessly clean the whole time we were there; it was also very quiet for a good night’s sleep.
We have stayed in many B&B’s in the USA, Canada and England and this is by far the best we have stayed in.
Bayleys Lobster Pound was just a short drive away for some excellent sea food take outs.
The Innkeeper went out of her way to make our stay as enjoyable and comfortable as possible, even providing directions to local attractions

This had to be the most uncomfortable experience I've ever had on vacation. While the location was great and the room was clean, the innkeeper was controlling and on-top of almost every move we made. She had a list of rules that was a page long and on our last day, she slipped a check-out reminder under our door (2 hours before check-out) and left our croissants on a table...as if she didn't have time for us. The walls are very thin.

The only time i have a problem with my guests, which does not happen often, it usually is because they don't respect the rules. This is definitely the case here. This is a beach-side 4 room bed and breakfast that i run out my house, not a large hotel property. You booked a room for 2 nights and when you arrived, there were 2 cars parked in my parking, one was yours and the other, a mini-van, belonged to your friends. I asked you who they were and you said they were local and were just visiting for the day. That's when i told you that the faciliteis were for our guests only and that i did not allow visitors. You chose to ignore me and they were here for the day using the room, using the washroom, using the umbrellas and chairs in my back yard that are specifically for my guests. Moreover, it clearly says on my website that my house, out of which i rent 4 rooms, is not suitable for children. this means that there are no child proofing devices on the outlets, there are no child proof knobs on the stoves, etc.. I mentioned this to your friends who were sitting out on my balcony when i saw their 2-3 year old playing on the guest stairs unattended. That's when you both walked up from the beach. Your friends were in the room when you were not even there with them! When i rent a room that is designed for 2 people, it does not mean you can bring a total of 5 people to use the room and my house. My family and I live here on premises, so yes, i am very aware of what goes on in my house and property, so if it seems like i was watching you, it's true.

“Falling asleep with the sound of the ocean...”

A lovely B&B right by the beach. A wonderful & very helpful host, GREAT breakfast (freshly baked), very nice room with balcony and ocean view. Great stop on your way to Akadia N.P. or other destinations north of Portland. ;-)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) (Btw: Freeport outlet village only 20 mins from here - great shopping facility!!!!)

“A very pleasant surprise.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2009

I did a lot of research in trying to find a nice little getaway for some R&R with my wife. We choose the inn based on the reviews on this website and description in their website. My wife was very happy with my choice for several reasons. She and I were impressed if not surprised at the absolute cleanliness of our room and the attention to detail made by our innkeeper in every aspect of our stay. The meal in the morning was delicious and the company from the innkeeper and the other guests was memorable. (Our innkeeper has the most infectious, enjoyable laugh.) The inn is intimate and quiet. The location was great. It was just far enough away from the main area of town to be quiet, but close enough to walk downtown in several minutes. There is a great little used bookstore several buildings away with a very colorful owner. She and my wife had several wonderful conversations. The Greek restaurant across the street from the pier is not to be missed. Food and service was outstanding. I am not usually this generous with my praise, but this inn is worth a visit and worthy of these comments. My wife and I will be back.

“A very welcome inn”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 July 2009

This was our 2nd stay at the Auberge with innkeeper Bridgitte and her family. The inn is wonderful, warm and inviting and steps to the beach. Breakfast is plentiful and yummy - the butter croissants - scrumptious! Our room was large enough for 2 with a little kitchen area (just the right size) - and very clean and neat. From our bed you could see and hear the ocean surf! Our deck was just the right size to enjoy our morning cup of coffee or our afternoon lunch. OOB is a kickback from the past - yes with it's neon signs and "colorful" boardwalk. But a mile away is this little gem which is very quiet and inviting.
