“Our favorite B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 October 2011

This past summer was our 6th annual stay at the Auberge. The room, private deck and the breakfast just keep us coming back. Brigitte's personality and her breakfast croissant are absolutely without comparison. The Auberge is located only 75 feet away from the beach; the beach is kept clean by the town. It has a relaxed, cottage feeling with privacy.

Room Tip: Each room has its own view of the ocean. The decks with rooms 1 and 4 are more private.

“My Annual Escape”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 October 2011

Fall is now setting in and I am already missing Auberge by the Sea. For ten consecutive summers we have spent 10 enjoyable days and nights in this comfy bed and breakfast, ideally located on the beautiful Maine coastline of Old Orchard and Scarborough. We delight in our long morning walks, collecting sand dollars and enjoying the beautiful sun and breezes. On return to our room we are quickly welcomed into the breakfast area with freshly baked pastries of our choice, unlimited fruits, cheeses and cold cereals. Coffee, juice, milk or tea is available. The rooms are uniquely decorated, fitting for Maine, and include a small kitchenette for fixing our own daily lunches, snacks and even dinner if we like. Best of all, the hospitality is fantastic and always filled with laughter. The owners, their beautiful little girl and a very friendly pooch make us feel right at home. I couldn't think of any place I would stay while in Maine than Auberge by the Sea.

“What A Wonderful B&B !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2010

This was our third year, we like it so much we stayed for two weeks.
What we really appreciate is the total freedom to come and go as you please, the kitchenette allowed us to prepare simple meals and eat outside on the balcony listening to the ocean just a few steps away.
The breakfast choice is excellent, with the aroma of fresh baked bread, muffins and croissants to get your taste buds going!, plus fresh fruit, a choice of cereals , variety of cheeses, homemade jams and yogurt .
The room was spotlessly clean the whole time we were there; it was also very quiet for a good night’s sleep.
We have stayed in many B&B’s in the USA, Canada and England and this is by far the best we have stayed in.
Bayleys Lobster Pound was just a short drive away for some excellent sea food take outs.
The Innkeeper went out of her way to make our stay as enjoyable and comfortable as possible, even providing directions to local attractions

“There's someone watching you”

This had to be the most uncomfortable experience I've ever had on vacation. While the location was great and the room was clean, the innkeeper was controlling and on-top of almost every move we made. She had a list of rules that was a page long and on our last day, she slipped a check-out reminder under our door (2 hours before check-out) and left our croissants on a table...as if she didn't have time for us. The walls are very thin.

The only time i have a problem with my guests, which does not happen often, it usually is because they don't respect the rules. This is definitely the case here. This is a beach-side 4 room bed and breakfast that i run out my house, not a large hotel property. You booked a room for 2 nights and when you arrived, there were 2 cars parked in my parking, one was yours and the other, a mini-van, belonged to your friends. I asked you who they were and you said they were local and were just visiting for the day. That's when i told you that the faciliteis were for our guests only and that i did not allow visitors. You chose to ignore me and they were here for the day using the room, using the washroom, using the umbrellas and chairs in my back yard that are specifically for my guests. Moreover, it clearly says on my website that my house, out of which i rent 4 rooms, is not suitable for children. this means that there are no child proofing devices on the outlets, there are no child proof knobs on the stoves, etc.. I mentioned this to your friends who were sitting out on my balcony when i saw their 2-3 year old playing on the guest stairs unattended. That's when you both walked up from the beach. Your friends were in the room when you were not even there with them! When i rent a room that is designed for 2 people, it does not mean you can bring a total of 5 people to use the room and my house. My family and I live here on premises, so yes, i am very aware of what goes on in my house and property, so if it seems like i was watching you, it's true.

“Falling asleep with the sound of the ocean...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 June 2010

A lovely B&B right by the beach. A wonderful & very helpful host, GREAT breakfast (freshly baked), very nice room with balcony and ocean view. Great stop on your way to Akadia N.P. or other destinations north of Portland. ;-)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) (Btw: Freeport outlet village only 20 mins from here - great shopping facility!!!!)
