“Not Done Yet, But Has Potential!”

A grand old inn by the sea, harkening back to times gone by. Excellent location, the owner was very accomodating. Get a room in the old inn - not in the surrounding buildings, which are newer and do not have any charm. The owner is in the process of making renovations, and I am eager to see the inn when it it done, I think it will be spectacular! Right now, it's the best deal in town, if a little threadbare, but it's clean.

Room Tip: In the old inn, 2nd or 3rd floor facing the oceanfront.

“Enjoyable visit to Ogunquit!”

Found ourselves in Ogunquit and at the last minute were able to book a room at the Colonial. We found a gracious staff, clean room, and the charm we would expect (and enjoy!) in an older, beach colony hotel. The Colonial is close to everything yet quiet and breakfast on the porch was a great way to start our day!

“Warning to travellers: Colonial "Inn" need of some serious updating/upkeeping!”

When I booked this place, I thought we were getting a charming family suite, not unlike the charming Victorian style main building. My husband, my 3 year old and I stayed here from Sept. 6th to the 10th, 2011. Boy were we in for a surprise to say the very least. When we walked over the threshold of our "suite", the first thing we saw were two small twin beds with a 1970's style lamp overhead (a bulb was out). We then proceeded to the main room it consisted of a double bed, a small fridge, a kitchen fixture with another 1970's style lamp shade, and an 18" ( or so) television mounted over the fridge with a poor display. When I pulled the bedspread back to put my son to bed, I was greeted by a dead bug, his little legs in the air. We decided to try out the jacuzzi. Big mistake. The temp was just right but I was sitting in about an inch of sand. The water was cloudy. No pool boy in sight.

I do need to mention that the guy who greeted us at the front desk was very friendly and seemed happy to work there. The maid also did a great job. This made our stay here a bit more pleasant. Also, the location was amazing.

We are not hotel divas but we do expect that for $600 we would at least have an updated room. Would not recommend this place, there are a lot of other places in Ogunquit!

“Nice location in the heart of Ogunquit!”

Hi everybody, I’ve just returned from a night stay at the Colonial Inn in Ogunquit and here is my review. The Inn is located in the heart of downtown Ogunquit, it`s a fairly large hotel and it is nicely kept. The rooms are small and the walls are thin, but this is a classic New England style Inn. I booked through Expedia for $159.00 for two including breakfast, this was during peak season and that was considered a good price in this region. On the premises you will find a small pool with a dozen chairs and a Jacuzzi, parking is free. Breakfast was fine and you can eat outside if you like. I did enjoy my stay at the Colonial, the staff was friendly and the location is great. Would I return to the Colonial? Yes and I can recommended you should try this Inn. Cheers!

“Great Experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 September 2011

Just got home from a wonderful Labor Day weekend at the Colomial. We were on the fence about staying there but gave it a try based on the review of a familly with three teens. We have two plus a friend for the weekend. The extended suite proved to be perfect for two adults and three teens.
Must admit that some ten years ago we had a room reservation at the Colonial and demanded our money back after we checked in. Now .... Ten years later the place is much cleaner and up to date. Really, perfect for a family.
We didn't do breakfast as we just have to have an egg sandwich from Village Market when we are in town, but the coffee and juice were fine.
Our daughter totally enjoyed sitting in the spacious lobby catching up with friends on Facebook.
Definately on our radar to return to. We visit Oqunquit often.
