“home away from home!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2011

We go to the Blue shutters every summer. It is owned by a lovely couple, they really try to make your stay enjoyable. Its location is very close to the Marginal way and to the center of town. Its rooms are very cozy and well appointed. I find it is a very relaxing experience, and I love waking up to Paul's wonderful breakfast. I can't wait to go back again next summer.

“Carriage house? MODERN SUITE is more like it! A WONDERFUL PLACE TO STAY!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 August 2011

After doing much research for me and my girlfriend's first getaway to Ogunquit I was able to track down this wonderful Inn. When I first called and spoke to Paul he was very nice and was able to get us into a room in the house at a very good price (about $50 less than any other places around, 1/2 as much as many) and after looking at the room online I asked that if a larger room opened if he'd be so kind as to move us into that room. A few days later he called and told us we'd have a room in the Carriage House. I looked at the pictures and it looked much bigger although I was a bit hesitant on the price 1 and 2nd on the name "Carriage house". When we arrived all I can say is the room is pristine, just absolutely beautiful. Great bed, large LCD on the wall, fireplace, full size fridge and kitchen, couch, front porch) I suggested he change the name of the Carriage House (sounds like a horse barn) to Modern Suites or something like that. Paul was very nice in person (born and raised in Arlington MA) and told us all about the area which helped us navigate around for the weekend. The included breakfast was really good and changed each day. Checkout was at 11am but we were able to leave the car there while we went to the beach. The big beach downtown is about a 12 minute walk but the entrance to the Marginal Way is literally just steps away from the room and is stunning. There are 2 small beaches within a minute and when the tide is down you can walk across to the big beach. There are surfers, paddle boarders and boogie boarders everywhere. Kids looking for ocean life and making sand castles...
The Marginal way path was a great route to take going to town, going to the beach or going down to Perkins Cove (a beautiful 10 minute walk) where there are cute shops and great places to eat.
This was a perfect romantic getaway and we'll be staying at the Blue Shutters Inn very soon.

“Great value in Ogunquit”

We stayed at the Blue Shutters for 3 nights because of the fantastic location and because I prefer the Inn experience to the impersonal feeling of a large motel. Once we arrived, we were able to park our car and never use it. We walked the marginal way to Perkins Cove, we walked to the little beach off the marginal way, and we used the trolley when we wanted to go to the Big Beach. We walked to dinner on Shore Rd and we walked to Main Street for shopping.
Our room was dimly lit but otherwise fine. It was airy and attractive and although old, it was spotlessly clean. Breakfast was tasty and offered cut up fresh fruit and eggs or french toast, along with muffins, coffee, juice, cold cereal. The host/owner was friendly and warm.
The best part was the price. The room cost about 70% of what the neighbors charged for that same location. I was happy to forgo luxuries in the room such as bathrobes or shampoo vials or hair dryers in order to save money. I would definitely return.

“Convenience at your fingertips!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 July 2011

My fiance & I stayed at the Blueshutters over the 4th of July weekend as a last minute getaway on what is known to be a most busy getaway weekend by the seashore. Once parked at the front door, The Blueshutters offered convenience via margianal way to a lovely beach area and both Perkins Cove and downtown Ogunquit. Our room, the "Pink" room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast served in the morning was satisfying, however, please let me note that if one views the Inn's website one would believe that dinner could also be enjoyed on premises. This was not the case, however, there are many restaurants to be enjoyed. One would also take note of a small bar area on the Inn's website where you might think after a day at the beach you could come back and enjoy a cold beverage.....again not the case. These small amenties may make the difference in a traveler's decision on properties but certainly should not deter a visit to a fine Inn that was manged by an accomodating gentleman by the name of Paul who made our stay very welcoming. A good value all around.

Room Tip: Pink Room was clean and comfortable

“Amazing location, great service and excellent value!”

My wife and I have been going to the Blue Shutters for our anniversary in June for over 5 years now and we have been delighted each and every visit. The Inn is located in a perfect spot, just far enough off of the Marginal Way so that no one is walking past looking in your windows, but close enough so that you can be on the shore within a minute of leaving the door. The view from the ocean side rooms is fantastic! We especially appreciate the warmth and dedication of the owners and have had countless moments of exceptional service. The breakfast is always inviting and the rooms are nicely appointed. Our latest visit was June of 2011 and we found the landscaping and exterior condition of the Inn to be very well kept, and the room that we stayed in exactly as we had expected it to be. The owner accmodated us on our late arrival time of 7 pm and provided us with champagne and chocolates (as requested) for our anniversary. I highly recommend this Inn to anyone looking for a comfortable and nicely appointed bed and breakfast at a very reasonable rate within walking distance of downtown Ogunquit and Perkins Cove.
