What a lovely B&B! Very relaxed atmosphere. We immediately felt at home. Thoughtful touches throughout....colorful beach towels by the door to grab on your way out, lovely homemade breakfast and a spacious bright room. We booked two different B & Bs in Ogunquit at the last minute on a busy weekend. And while we were grateful to both places that they so easily accommodated us at the last minute, we were very glad we ended our trip at this one. For a third less money we got a much nicer room, a better homemade breakfast, an innkeeper who made us feel as if we were part of the family, handy sweets and drinks to which we could help ourselves during the day and a location much closer to the beach.

If you are looking for an innkeeper who is conversational or fawning, this is not the place for you. The innkeeper instead just opened up his place to us and let us be. He was always available if necessary, but really just appeared at breakfast with plenty of food (and seconds if we wanted it). The room had lots of little touches that made us feel welcome...a lovely jar of scented oil that made us want to linger in the room. The B& B we'd stayed in the night before we could have cared less whether or not we stayed another minute. While check out time at the previous inn was, we felt, an unreasonable 10:30 a.m. , at Morning Dove it was a much more reasonable 11:00 a.m. And when we asked, they allowed us to keep our car in the parking lot until we left at 1:00 p.m., We usually stay at the Hartwell House, but we're very glad we found this gem tucked in off the main thoroughfare.

My first impression as I approached this B&B is that the grounds are terribly neglected. As I entered the B&B, I was greeted with a placard on a desk informing me to call the B&B's host. I did so, and at no time did I receive a warm welcome of any kind. Upon returning from an outing later in the evening, I found this B&B in complete darkness with the door wide open. Very scary. My room was adequate but nothing special. However, the supply of toiletries was inadequate, consisting of two bars of soap and one tiny shampoo sample bottle. Although I used up the shampoo early in my stay, it was never replaced -- not even once! Breakfast was as good as at home. However, no hot beverages were available later in the day. Worst of all, the host is cold, detached, bored, burned out, and neglectful. I feel that the word "neglected" sums up my experience with this host and with this B&B.

We when arrived, the door was unlocked and we let ourselves in. A sign that said to call Rob at this number. He let us know what our rooms were at to makes ourselves at home. He told us he would be over at a certain time, as we needed an additional bed. We had to call him an additional 2 times, before he arrived at 9 pm. We had spent the day traveling and sight seeing and wanted to get to bed. We were leaving the next day early for Boston and asked if we could make any special arrangements for breakfast. He said he could have coffee, fruit and cereal for us. We told him we wanted to be on the road by 7 am. It was 6:30 and we still had not seen anyone and so we left. It concerned us that the door was left unlock when we arrived and he assured us that it would be locked when he left, he doesn't live there. It appeared to us that the Bed and Breakfast wasn't getting the full time commitment we were expecting.

My wife and I wanted a quick getaway to celebrate our anniversary. The Morning Dove turned out to be the perfect spot. We stayed in Grandma's Attic, which was great - clean, roomy and comfortable. Breakfast was outstanding, a choice of tomato, spinach & feta frittata or croissant French toast along with fresh baked strawberry bread and fruit. The location is perfect; easy walk to both downtown and Perkins Cove. Rob could not have been a better host. We will certainly be back.
