“Pleasantly surprised by this little hotel located right near the water in ogonquit maine”

You're a little skeptical because a lot of the review suggested this wasn't a great sot but boy were they wrong. We went on a whim after my son said he wanted to go to maine. Great proximity to the beach and perkins cove. We were there in the busy season which added to the fun! Rooms were a bit dark but we spent our nights there so who cares? Front desk was awesome! We needed milk and the wonderful lady at the front desk gave us theirs from the hotel! Will definitely go back! Great for small kids as the pool is only 3 feet deep! My daughter was psyched that she could walk from one side to the other!

“Always a nice place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

This was the fifth time staying at The Grand. They offer a great three night package which included dinner for two at Clay Hill Farm (night of choice). The hotel (as mentioned in other reviews) could use an upgrade, but it's a very comfortable hotel. We heard from one of the owners that they will be upgrading the kitchenette and bathrooms during their closed months - granite !!!!
The desk staff are extremely helpful. In advance of our stay we asked (and received) for taxi transportation to be arranged four two nights of going to dinner during our visit.
The indoor pool is a nice feature and most times we had it to ourselves.
The hotel is very clean and maid service is provided daily with the option of changing towels daily or not. I like the added touch of a basket provided for the towels rather than throwing them on the floor as in most hotels.
I'm not sure about wi-fi but there's a computer in the lobby that is available to guests and was rarely in use.
Several people have mentioned the quality of the continental breakfast. I prefer only coffee n the morning so it was fine for me. I've seen the selection and in comparison to other places it is disappointing. I also waited in line for the coffee to be replenished.
I love the location - it's an easy walk to Perkins Cove as well as the center of town. There are no views of anything worth seeing. There was some construction going on next door at 98 Provence during our stay but didn't bother us at all.
We will be back either in the Spring or Fall. Ogunquit is always a great place for a mini-break.

Room Tip: I recommend a 2nd floor or Penthouse room. The first floor with all the activity (especially morning...

“Not So Grand Hotel.......”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 November 2011

Stayed for one night in early November 2011. We had the "Penthouse Suite". Room was very, very average. Not really dirty, not really clean. All dated and sub-standard furniture, fixtures etc. Overwhelming stench of someone cooking what we believed to be Indian food permeated the hotel in the evening. We literally had to put a towel under our door. The continental breakfast was a joke. Stood around with ten other people waiting for coffee, as the pots were all empty. There were two bagels out. After waiting a while, I went to the desk and asked if anyone was doing something about coffee and a few minutes later, both food AND coffee came flowing from the kitchen. Shouldn't have to ask. Overall, not really a pleasant experience.

“Very Nice Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 October 2011

After visiting Ogunquit and the Grand last fall decided to return this fall for a mini vacation. We decided to take their Yankee Clipper pack age, which was a three night stay with two meal coupons. Our room was pleasant and without any issues, each morning we enjoyed a choice of bagels, muffins, cereal, fruit and juices, as well as coffee and tea. Coffee and tea were availble all day and evening. The coupons were for good restaurants and our meals were very enjoyable. A great deal.

“Good Hotel in Town”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2011

We have been to Ogunquit before, but never stayed in the town. It is well situated on the main street, Shore Road, about 2.5 streets from the Marginal Way and 3.5 streets from Perkins Cove. Several good restaurants are nearby like: 98 Province, Katie's, Prime, and Roberto's. Parking for the most part is under the building. This is an elevator building with 28 suites. Ours was a two-room suite with a large sectional sofa in an L-shape with a television and table with two chairs and a small fridge. The king-sized bed also had a television in the room. The maid kept our room spotless for our three day stay! Although this hotel does not have ocean views, it was good value for the money. A continental breakfast is provided.
