After spending two weeks in comfortable but large hotels this was a wonderful find. As has been said before the grounds are so well maintained and with the cottages spread out it is very relaxing. Being right on the beach was an added bonus even thorough we stayed in October and it was getting cold the beach always adds to the experience. There is a great walk along the beach front.
We stayed in a cottage without a kitchenette as is was for just one night. The furnishings were comfortable and appropriate for what it is. The bed was very comfortable and the heating worked well!!
Definately visit Angelinas Italian restaurant down the road. Beautiful food and great service.

A great place to stay, something different than a "usual" hotel. We chose a room in one of the cottages without the kitchenette. Stayed off season 10/2011. So clean and cozy, plenty of room and definately charming. If you have the ability to look at the rooms before you choose, it is a plus as the setups vary. The grounds are beautiful, well maintained and spaced well. Employees all very nice. Plenty of outdoor seating in the fall to relax. We walked to Lobster Pound (very good, priced about what you would expect, rustic ambiance.) and Egg and I pricey breakfast but also very good. BEST closest food by far was Angelinas Italian for dinner. About 1/2mile NOrth on route one. Owner/chef excellent Italian food, better than some North End Boston restaurants. A great find. Can not walk to town but loved walking/rowing over to the beach, 3 miles of beauty. Overall a definate plus to stay at the Dunes, if the cottage prices are a bit too much with the kitchenette, try one of the 1 or 2 rooms without, plenty of room for a few days without needing to cook! Hoping to return next year.

Great location....we walked to the Lobster Pound for dinner and the Egg and I for breakfast. We had our wine on the lawn and watched the Atlantic at sunset. Fairly close to town. Rooms were clean, but without charm.

We stayed in the old hotel part of the dunes and were very pleased with our stay, The place knows how to stay charming with subtle updates to ensure they are staying with the times as well. We went in early October and loved everything about the location and look forward to staying here again in the future as the scenery is unbeatable and so close to the water and a fun adventure crossing over the dunes to get to the beach, The staff was friendly and inviting. The next time we stay we hope to rent a cottage with a kitchen and fireplace so we can enjoy more of the scenery the Dunes on the waterfront has to offer.
