Having stayed at other Sunday River properties, I was excited to try out the Jordan. I would stay here again, but only if there were substantial savings/a great deal to be had. Otherwise, you are better off in a condo or even at the much more budget Snow Cap Inn at South Ridge.
First, the employees were all super friendly and helpful, in particular the front door help and valet. I loved these guys. Front desk and concierge were excellent.
The hotel itself is older, but not showing its age too poorly, yet. You almost don't notice it because things are very clean and the scenery outside is amazing. The rooms were nothing special and a bit on the small side; however, most rooms have a deck and that's a really nice feature. Everything was clean, tidy, and housekeeping did a great job. Beds were VERY VERY comfortable. A+ for clean, comfortable beds.
This is a VERY noisy hotel. It's full of everyone from frat houses to couples to families to retirees. Each night we stayed there were little kids running up and down the hallways AFTER MIDNIGHT screaming and yelling. This happened over and over again.
The pool and hot tubs are nice, as is the fire pit tended in the evenings. However, there are no steps leading into the hot tubs and with a very, very loud college crowd monopolizing them in the evenings, they seemed a little on the gross side. There were beer bottles, trash, etc. left in the hot tub and pool area and should have been cleaned up. There was no one monitoring these areas at all.
The Jordan is several miles from South Ridge and Barker, so if you want to be right near the big action you'll have to drive or take the shuttle (the shuttle is great). Also, the road is not the safest. Really use caution.
On the other hand, there are several ski in/ski out trails at Jordan Bowl which is wonderful. If you want to avoid the bigger crowds down the mountain this is a great place to never have to even leave and still do all the skiing you want on beginner to intermediate trails.
Sliders has a very large deck with a big fire pit and lots of tables to ski in and out of, or just to observe. Sliders has a bartender with an attitude - did not appreciate.
Sliders food leaves a LOT to be desired; you are better off ordering room service or eating elsewhere within Sunday River. One nice thing about the Jordan is there are many suites with kitchenettes or you can bring a lot of your own food if you want to use a crock pot or hot plate and the deck as a refrigerator/cooler.
The ambience of this hotel is somewhere between old-school ski lodge with modern amenities. Not a great value - I would put these rooms at about half the cost they go for during peak season - but a wonderful location with lots to do at your fingertips.
