The Super 8 in Lewiston, ME is the worst hotel in which I have ever stayed. The room: the floors were not vacuumed, the rug along the base of the walls appeared never to have been vacuumed, dust was collected in clumps under the bathroom sink, the shower curtain was moldy, the shower head base was coming out of the cracked wall, there were brown stains splattered on various parts of the bathroom walls , the color of the threadbare towel ranged from beige to gray and had brown and black stains (even the one my wife got as a replacement and which had just come out of the dryer), crumbs were on the table between the beds, the alarm clock needed to be plugged in, the air conditioner was raucously noisy, and the sheets in one of the beds looked like they had never been changed from the previous guests. The public areas: the hallways and reception area were filthy and the parking lot littered with what appeared to be hundreds of cigarette butts. I do not expect much from a budget room, but I do expect things to be reasonably clean -- in short, the entire hotel is unacceptable. I should have believed the negative reviews. The staff, however, were helpful -- in spite of the fact they work in what is effectively a hazmat zone.
