My husband and I just stayed at the Ware Street Inn for two nights, visiting our grandson who is a freshman at Bates, and we couldn't have found a better place! It was on the list provided to Bates' parents, and is unbelievably convenient to the campus. We walked in the evening to a concert at the Olin Arts Center, and our grandson walked over to meet us the afternoon we arrived - a block away! Jan and Mike have gone out of the way to not only provide a lovely home, but to be helpful and informative in every way. Jan put together a fabulous binder (one in every room) not only listing area attractions and restaurants, but included a history of the house - really neat! We stayed in the Juliet Room, which was very nicely decorated and had a very comfortable bed, WiFi, TV, phone, and a view of the lovely grounds. The bathroom was a little small for my 6'4" husband, but we checked out the other rooms, and all of those bathrooms were of adequate size, so we'll try one of those next time. Jan recommended Graziano's in Lisbon for excellent Italian food, so we tried it for lunch and we agree. The place is very unique and worth seeing. She also recommended Fuel, where we had already made a reservation, and it too was excellent. It is obvious that Jan loves the area, loves her home, and loves being an innkeeper. Breakfasts were hearty and delicious, all homemade items, including apple oatmeal pancakes with apple cider syrup, and whole wheat pumpkin french toast with berry compote, fruit cups, banana and cranberry breads - yum!! Mike was very helpful in recommending Roy's Bike Shop for repair of our grandson's bicycle, which we were going to lug home for fixing! Roy was great, very reasonable, and promised the repaired bike back within three days. We know we will be visiting our grandson again over the next four years, and I cannot think of any reason to consider another place to stay.
