“Pet-friendly,cheap price, but keep your expectations low”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2011

The main reason I stayed here was that I was traveling with my dog and other pet-friendly motels/hotels either had higher rates or charged a ridiculous fee for pets. Now keep in mind that as with all motel 6s, you pretty much get what you pay for. The motel's receptionist was very friendly. My room, although I asked for non-smoking, smelled of cigarettes, but in my experience all motel 6 rooms have that musty smell so it may not necessarily have been cigarette odor. The room was clean enough, everything worked well (a/c/heater,cable tv, mini-fridge, microwave). The wifi here was free which was a plus. The bed was comfortable enough, a bit squeaky, but I fell asleep fine. Now, given that this is a pet-friendly place, you will hear the odd bark as people open or close doors but nothing particularly bothersome. One thing I must remark is that the hallway carpet is littered with stains that I believe are dog pee because my dog kept sniffing them intently. Overall, if you are traveling with a pet and don't want to pay an arm and a leg or if you just want a place to stay overnight and you aren't very picky, then this place is suitable enough. Like I said, keep your expectations to a minimum.

“It's gross... but you get what you pay for.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 August 2011

The outside of the hotel was decent. It gave the appearance of a well kept building. The office continued this but beyond that the image fell apart. The high point of this stay was the staff. They were friendly and always seemed to be available. I had to deal with them often as the key cards to my room stopped working on a daily basis. The room was clean but it gave hints of having seen better days. The head board could have fallen off at any time, the towel rack was just about the same, the bed sagged in the middle causing us to wake up in a ball in the middle of the bed every morning, the door had a crack across implying someone had tried to force their way into the room with the security latch engaged, and the entire second floor smelled of body odor, cigarettes, marijuana and lord knows what else. On the whole it was a place to put our head for a few days for a cheep price. Next time we are going to spend the extra money and go somewhere with a little more upkeep.

“Beyond Disgusting”

In town for business and needed to stay overnight. Checked in around 11:00 pm. Checked out 11:05 pm. Walked through "newly renovated" halls which were not. Entered room and decided to wash my hands. Sink filled up and didn't drain. Pulled out the stopper and it was disgusting black and sink still didn't drain. Walked over to close the curtains and thought I saw a spider and knocked it to the ground. Tried to step on it when I see what I think is another spider. Then I look closer to what I thought was the carpet pattern and it turned out to be a sea of large ants crawling over everything. I packed up and went to front desk and put a sample ant which I carried in a tissue to the front desk to quell any doubts. Desk attendant issued a refund and noted "infested with ants". Next time I'll drive home. If you stay there...avoid room 239!

Room Tip: Do not stay here.

“Excellent, clean, friendly/competent staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 April 2011

I had a reservation at the Ramada (next door) - for $90. When I arrived and checked in, the room was at the other side of the building, through dark, brick corridors (felt like being in a cellar/tunnel) - finally to my room which had bricked up hazy windows which looked onto a shed-line structure!. Staff looked disinterested/just biding time. So I checked out and went to the Motel 6 next door.

$46 (including extra for wifi card) - what a contrast! Upon entering, it was bright, clean and the front desk clerk, Derek, was welcoming. (I had called from the Ramada telephone in my room and so he had checked ahead to make sure that he had a type of room that I wanted - non-smoking/wifi enabled. And he has personally gone to make sure that it was prepared.)

I got to the room (via interior hallway also, but this time no dungeon/tunnel, like the Ramada) and found it very clean and large.

There was a problem with the wifi, which was essential to my business in town; I brought my netbook to the front desk and Derek resolved the problem (required tech support) while also deftly catering to other incoming guests at the same time.
Likewise, the 2 women on staff in the morning were very friendly and helpful.

The clerks in the a.m. told me that the $39+tax flat rate at this Motel 6 was in the lowest category across US/CAN, due to location - so don't always expect it that cheap. You also have to understand what Motel 6 is like. They have very, very basic rooms with not very many amenities/extra's. So, bring travel bottles of shampoo and your own hairdryer (or use the heater in the room to dry as I did since I didn't bring one as I had a reservation at the Ramada next door) and buy a $3? wifi card if you want in-room access. Why should you (or others) pay for these things if not wanted.

The staff was wonderful.
Location off I-95 very good.
Location to intown (where I was going) not so hot.

I would definitely stay again if in the area.

Only one concern, although the corridor door to the room had access keys and a security bolt, the sliding glass door (I was on the 1st floor) was nice - but only secured with a flimsy aluminum bar. This didn't bother me, but it is something to consider if you are worried about that.

“Never Again”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2010

Being that the local Ramada was booked for a recruiting weekend at Bates, my choices were limited.

It has been a LONG time since I stayed in a $40.00/night hotel but this was really bad! I had requested a room close to reception, was told nothing was available and ended up on the "dark" side of the building.

The room was clean. Nevertheless, I did not have a drop of shampoo or a hair dryer. I asked to borrow a hairdryer from the desk and was informed they didn't have one. This necessitated a night-time trip to the local grocery store to purchase those two items for the morning. So much for the cheap hotel. A "pet-friendly"hotel, doors slamming and dogs barking at 4AM.
