As I checked in I waited atleast 10 minutes for the lobby guy to come in. I went into my room and the place smelled musty. The two chairs in the room next to the table... it looked like one of them had been sat on by someone naked. There was **** on it I believe. The sheets on the beds were clean I guess but they had stains all over them. That forced me to sleep on top of my beach towel for the night. We were only given two pillows to sleep with. So that made it very difficult to view the tv, considering the tv was way down past our feet. The bathroom was a whole different story... the toliet was wayyyy too high that I couldn't even put my feet on the floor. The shower was digusting.. as you turn it on.. it's like a mist of rain that comes out of three different locations.. places that it shouldn't. It felt like the floor was going to cave in inside the tub.

The pool area was the only okay thing about the whole hotel experience... it looked clean. The fitness room was nasty and disgusting and scared the **** out of me. The morning continental breakfast was fine as well. During checkout, they charged me a dollar for a safe that I never even used. Not to mention, we again waited 10 minutes for the lobby guy to arrive and help us out.

I strongly recommened to stay clear of this hotel at all costs. It's under construction but it seems that it has been for like four years now. I don't ever see this place becoming decent.

My fiance and I went to the Roadway Motel after a long day of driving. We thought ok, doesn't seem so bad, the man behind the counter said that they were renovating and not to mind the mess in the lobby. Well, we weren't impressed that the floors creeked. The room we stayed in had no smoke alarm, there were wires hanging from the ceiling, there were water stains on the ceiling and the walls seemed paper thin. We checked in later at night, we were so unimpressed we checked out at 7:30am. I myself didn't feel comfortable sleeping there. The rooms were not bright at all. Seemed so uninviting. They also offered a continental breakfast, we looked at it and walked out. Judging by the reviews written about this place, it has been under renovation for quite a while. All I can say is next time we are in Kittery, I will not give this place a second glance, I think I woul have rather slept in the car.

This place is in need of a total renovation. Website was decieving as far as how it presented itself in its looks on the internet. It looks like a barn entry when you walk in. The rooms were dank and dark. It was old and worn and the pool was filthy with an oily slick on top. Our other fellow travelers we met were also displeased and took pictures. Bright side was that the hotel staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful. We had two nights booked but left after one night..it was way too creepy to stay there.
We contacted the corporate head quarters of this hotel chain and got a free nights stay at any one of there other chains so that was good BUT I had to ask them for it.

I do have to start off saying that I did ask for a room key before I accepted my room due to the fact that the lobby is under construction. The staff gave me a key right away and the five girls in my party proceeded to the room. The smell of new carpeting was what we first noticed. There we no number plates identifying the room number put there was a typed paper on the side of each door stating the room. The computerized credit card key opened the door on the first try and the room looked great; new carpets, new wallpaper, new pictures. The first thing I did was check each bed, pulling back the sheets and checking mattress and looked under the bed. Sheets were clean, bed mattress (BRAND) new. The little blanket on the bed was unraveling on the edges, but it was clean. The dresser showed a little wear and tear due to the vacuum hitting it. The next thing was the bathroom. The bathroom had new wallpaper and new toilet and vanity with granite top. All was clean and very nice. The shower had a nice clean shower curtain and it was one of those bowed bars so the curtain doesn't attack you when you are trying to take a shower. The shower stall itself was not replaced, but not in bad shape at all. Shower head was not replaced but had awesome water pressure. It was evident that the girl's weekend was going to be fine. We were going to be wet due to Kyle, but fine. We had no problems at all at this hotel. The room was room 207 and the extra sleeper bed was already when we arrived.
I felt I needed to write this review because of all the negative reviews I've read. I did not have a problem at this hotel and would go back again. I think they are trying their best to refurbish.
I did walk down to the bottom floor where the pool is housed. You could smell the chemicals in the pool, but the skylights were leaking, which didn't bother me because I own timeshare in the Cape and my 4 star resort had this very same problem. It happens. The bottom floor did smell a little musty and it needed to be updated like the rest of the hotel that I saw.
Once again, I was pleased with this hotel. The staff was very nice and we got what we reserved, no hidden charges.
thanks,
girls weekend 2008

My father and I just came back from maine yesterday ..OH MY GOD DON'T GO THERE. I can't stress that enough. I thought I was going to be murdered sometime through the night. I was scared for my life. The hotel was either under rennovation, or was just a pile of [--]. The rooms smell disgusting, the floors are so dirty, they said we had an iron and iron board, but hey.. neither were there, surprise surprise.. the shower was terrible, IT'S MIST! that's all! God I didn't even want to sit on the toilet- ew! The room numbers were pieces of white computer paper with a number, and taped to the wall beside the doors.. like SERIOUSLY! come on!
