We picked this motel purely on price, with some input from TripAdvisor. Our trip was site-seeing and shopping and we were really only concerned with having a decent place to sleep. We booked early and got a better rate for paying cash. We were a bit nervous because we've never stayed in this type of motel. When we arrived we were still nervous, but with moderate expectations, pleasantly surprised. The room was very clean, but old. The bathroom looked recently remodeled and was spotless. It took a while for the room to heat up and the controls apparently did nothing. However, it was not too hot or too cold once the room reached temperature. There was a small refrigerator. No coffee maker. The closet was like a dark, unlit alcove with the refrigerator in it and shelves next to it that served no purpose. There were no hangers. The bed and bedding was clean and comfortable. Now for the bad. Noise. The motel has permanent residents, as well as transient guests like construction workers. The room next to ours had some of the permanent residents and the noise they produced was offensive. We knew every time they went to the bathroom (at 5 AM and you fill in the blanks!), every time they turned on the bathroom faucet, and had the joy of experience dishes being washed in a bathroom sink at 6 AM every morning we were there. Without the permanent residents, we would consider staying there again. We won't go back because of the type of "guests" inhabiting the hotel.
