“WE LOVED our time at the Old Fort Inn”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 February 2012

We LOVED the inn, the staff was very friendly and helpful! The pool divine! The room was perfect for us and our 8month old. It had a little kitchette, that was invaluable to us, and the size of the room was perfect for our pack & play. The location was not at all an issue for us, in fact, great spot to go for walks! and away from the tourism. But not tooo far from the fun stuff!

I didn't rate the sleep as high, because the ac unit was noisy, and it was difficult for me to tune it out.

Thank you OLD Fort Inn for a lovely stay, So sorry for not writing sooner :( and we only hope to come back soon!!!!

This inn changed hands a couple of years ago but the new owners have maintained the high standards of the previous owners. Kennebunkport in the summer can be a madhouse, especially downtown around Dock Square or near Walker Point (the Bush family compound). The Old Fort Inn is just one street away from the ocean near Walker Point and hard to find but therefore a lovely refuge. Not large but very comfortable bedrooms and baths. Good breakfast served in the living room near the fireplace in the winter or on the screened porch by the pool in warm weather.

Room Tip: Just one or two suites but very spacious. All rooms are comfortable and private. No elevator to se...

“First Impressions of Maine...amazing!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

My wife and I had never been to the northeast and just started picking places at random, based on location. The Old Fort Inn was our first place after we landed and it was perfect. The rooms were gorgeous and decorated in soft tones to help you relax. The reading area was perfect with an oversized couch to sit on, a warm fire, and plenty to read. There was a small bar for that after dinner cocktail, and there is not enough that can be said about breakfast. The place is walking distance from the ocean and the local town has everything you need from first class dining to pharmaceuticals. We left there thinking about our next trip up and got a great first impression of Maine. Thanks!

“Friendliest, Warmest Reception and Wonderful Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 November 2011

We took a last-minute weekend getaway in November to Kennebunkport, ME, and it couldn't have been better if we planned it for weeks. We traveled with another couple, and we all had a wonderful stay at the Old Fort Inn. The inn was a delight, and it set the stage for a most pleasant trip. The reception and public areas of the inn are beautiful, stylish, and very welcoming. Sitting by the fireplace was cozy. Until 8 p.m., you can even order a glass of wine and sip it in front of the fire before dinner. Our bedrooms were in a separate 2-floor building behind the reception building, and there is no elevator. So if you have trouble with stairs, book a 1st floor room. We stayed in a Classic King room, which was spacious and provided a terrific seating area with a loveseat, armchair, and TV armoire. The decor and furnishings were lovely. The four-poster bed had just the right firmness and was so comfortable. Behind folding doors was a bonus surprise: a kitchenette with sink, refrigerator, microwave, coffeemaker, coffees and teas! There were also snacks that were very reasonably priced, and the popcorn was free. We loved the heated tiles and heated air that you can set in the bathroom. The bathtub was a bit old but fine. Linda, the Asst Gen Mgr, was the best! My husband and I have stayed in some of the best inns and b&bs all over the world, including the Captain Lord Mansion in town, and we agree that the reception we received from Linda was the warmest, friendliest, and most sincerely welcoming we've ever experienced. We missed afternoon snacks one afternoon, but when we came back to the inn to freshen up before dinner, Linda gave us some lemon cakes and tea to enjoy in our room for later. Breakfast was an expanded continental, but there was quiche one morning, along with hard-boiled eggs, and there was home-made french toast the next morning. Coffee was delicious, and the fresh fruit, granola, cakes, muffins, bagels and pastries were great. Upon departure, Linda gave us a goodie bag filled with water and snacks for the road. A big thank you to Linda and the terrific staff at the Old Fort Inn for a lovely and perfect weekend in Kennebunkport. We will definitely be back!

Room Tip: If you have trouble with stairs, book a first-floor room.

“Elegant, well-appointed, well-located”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 November 2011

We stayed 2 nights at this inn in the fall of 2011 and had a wonderful experience.

The main living room is furnished very tastefully, with dozens of top-notch art books from Taschen
(the top art publisher in the world). That would be a minor detail except that it shows very good taste.
It's hard to find fault with anything in that room, from comfortable sofas, fireplace, restored wood
paneling. There's a small bar where also complimentary tea, coffee and fresh baked cookies are offered
every afternoon.

Breakfast is a simple buffet with one hot dish but it was very good and is served in a heated, enclosed
porch. Their home baked bread is excellent.

Our room was in the carriage house; very comfortable and well-furnished. Heat did make a bit of noise
at night but otherwise the room was very comfortable.

Overall, a very enjoyable inn, much nicer than most of the inns we've ever stayed at in New England.

We will definitely return to the Old Fort Inn.

Room Tip: Carriage house is close to the main building / breakfast room but far enough to avoid all the noise...
