The Village Cove Inn was reviewed in the Montreal Gazette travel section and based on this as well as pictures of the 'Inn', my expectations were not high, but reasonable. I am disappointed to have to say that they were far from met. Although the room was clean, it was very dated, dingy, and in major need of an update, which was not apparent from the photos I had viewed prior to arriving.
The entire grounds and building (in particular the porch used to access the rooms on the second level) need a complete overhaul, which is expected to have to happen at some point however the rate should reflect that which it does not. I found $109 a night to be very pricey for the accommodations provided. $79 a night would have seemed more fair.
In addition to the above, we were charged a $3 a night fee for room service, which I have never heard of nor paid for in my life at any hotel/motel/inn/resort. You would think that for a fee, your room would be cleaned by 4 PM which it was not. After my boyfriend and I had been out for the day, we returned to an uncleaned room at 4. I believe the housekeeping was in progress at that time, however we wanted to rest before heading out again and did not want to be inconvenienced by waiting for our room to be cleaned. 4 PM is way too late, especially when you're charging a fee!
Finally, the 'onsite pub' advertised is extremely misleading. Except at breakfast, it appeared to be deserted and I'm not even sure if it was open in the evening.
I can only say that I enjoyed the convenient location of the Village Cove. I would not recommend this hotel, unless they put in the investment required to reflect what they are advertising.
