“Absolutley Wonderful”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 August 2011

We stayed in a deluxe queen room and had plenty of space for the four of us which included a pack and play. The room and grounds were very clean and many updates had been made. We loved sitting on our porch at night and enjoying the quiet wooded setting. We swam in both pools and the kids loved it. Again very clean. Breakfast was great lots of healthy choices including gluten free and fresh fruit. The staff was extremely nice and very helpful. They told us where everything was in comparison to the hotel and even outlined a map for us. We would absolutely go back again. You get your moneys worth and then some.

“Good value in a beautiful setting.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 July 2011

Lovely family run place in a wooded setting. Rooms were fine, continental breakfast was ample. When we checked in we were given pointers on what to see and the best ways to get around. Walking distance to town and several restaurants.

“Never again”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 July 2011 via mobile

This probably a nice place in it's day but the place is now very worn. Did not feel safe with the flimsy lock on the sliding glass exterior door which did not even have a screen. The drapes were hanging off the rods. We had to rehang them. The room was very worn and dated. The lights were dim and old. Not one matched. Very expensive to stay here, not worth the price at all.

“Overrated and not worth the money - not at all as advertised”

The Village Cove Inn was reviewed in the Montreal Gazette travel section and based on this as well as pictures of the 'Inn', my expectations were not high, but reasonable. I am disappointed to have to say that they were far from met. Although the room was clean, it was very dated, dingy, and in major need of an update, which was not apparent from the photos I had viewed prior to arriving.

The entire grounds and building (in particular the porch used to access the rooms on the second level) need a complete overhaul, which is expected to have to happen at some point however the rate should reflect that which it does not. I found $109 a night to be very pricey for the accommodations provided. $79 a night would have seemed more fair.

In addition to the above, we were charged a $3 a night fee for room service, which I have never heard of nor paid for in my life at any hotel/motel/inn/resort. You would think that for a fee, your room would be cleaned by 4 PM which it was not. After my boyfriend and I had been out for the day, we returned to an uncleaned room at 4. I believe the housekeeping was in progress at that time, however we wanted to rest before heading out again and did not want to be inconvenienced by waiting for our room to be cleaned. 4 PM is way too late, especially when you're charging a fee!

Finally, the 'onsite pub' advertised is extremely misleading. Except at breakfast, it appeared to be deserted and I'm not even sure if it was open in the evening.

I can only say that I enjoyed the convenient location of the Village Cove. I would not recommend this hotel, unless they put in the investment required to reflect what they are advertising.
