“No frills, basic "Ma & Pa" motel”

Pros: 1) There are not too many family- budget style motels in Greenville and this one of the closest ones to Greenville/Moosehead Lake under $120/night (summer). 2) Motel is on the water. 3) Older 1950s/60s style place but local owners take care of the guests. 4) Paddle boats and canoes were great but the time limit of half-hour gave you enough time to go about 600' off the dock and back. Revenue suggestion .... rent the boats out by the day/hour?

Work on; 1) Uniformity in all the rooms --- all should have at least mini fridges/microwaves. 2) Adding wireless Internet access to the rooms versus walking to the small lobby. 3) No art in my room -- just plain white walls! Was shocked to find no art decor in my room. My suggestion: Purchase or take some photos of the surrounding Moosehead Lake area.

Overall: In regards to summer travel -- You only want to stay in your room after enjoying a long sunny summer day on the lake. A good, budget friendly location.

Room Tip: Some of the more expensive rooms have kitchens and patio decks but the cheapest rooms have (at the t...

Thank you for your review. The canoes and paddleboats have an hour limit. This is just a general rule of thumb to keep people from going too far without taking into consideration that they also have to paddle back! We do have a variety of rooms with varying amenities. They are priced accordingly. When making a reservation we are happy to discuss a guests needs and expectations and help them choose the accommodation that will best suit them. Again, thank you for your feedback.

“Perfect for our purposes”

Not upscale, but a fine value for the price. My husband, his dad, and I stayed here on a three-day swing through the Northwoods. The location on the southern shore of Moosehead Lake was perfect, and all rooms have picture windows onto the lake. The room was walk-barefoot clean, the suite offered privacy for all of us, and the owners were pleasant and helpful. Paddleboats and canoes are available, as well as grills on the lawn. A cruise on the steamship "Katahdin" and a flight over the lake with Currier's Flying Service are major must-dos! We would definitely stay there any time we returned--the kind of place that becomes a home away from home.

“Basic, but sufficient, with beautiful view”

We stayed in room #5. Nothing fancy. Seems more like a fishing camp type motel than anything else - serves its purpose. A not-so-comfortable shower with thin, small towels, no amenities. But the view was beautiful. We bought steaks and cooked them one evening after sitting lakeside with a cooler of beer and a bottle of wine. Those relaxing evenings far offset the not-so-fancy accomodations. We would stay here again.

“Basic motel. Dated. Wouldn't recommend.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 October 2011

We stayed in a 'deluxe' motel room. There is nothing deluxe about the rooms. I have literally never seen toilet paper so thin. It was ridiculous. The bath towels were tiny, thin and old. The 'jacuzzi' is a small, standard tub with what looks to be a few jets drilled in the sides. It was too small and cramped to consider using. First floor room and it was loud - we could hear every moved by occupants of 2nd floor (which we has reserved but didn't get). Even at the modest rates, it wasn't a good value. We found 3 suspicious bugs on the walls and I hope to God they weren't bed bugs, but to be safe, everything we packed went into dryer on high heat when we got home. Yuck!

“Beautiful View”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2011

The motel sits on the bay overlooking Moosehead Lake. We were there just before the International Sea Plane Fly In. Since my husband is a pilot, he enjoyed watching the seaplanes fly in. We were on the second floor and had a balcony with a nice view. The room was a little small, but it was a motel room, so we expected that.

Room Tip: Get a second floor room. Better view.
