“Started Planning A Return Trip Before We Even Left!”

This place was amazing. It was easy to find, just keep in mind- GPS doesn't even register up there! At least ours didn't. When we got there, and it was SUPER foggy, and rainy. We couldn't see much of the view, but we didn't care. The cabin was extremely clean, everything you could think of needing was right there. (Coffee maker, pans, pots, dishes etc). We stayed in that evening, and unpacked. We sat outside on the covered, and listened to the loons in the distance. We fell asleep with ease, and all of us had the BEST nights sleep in a long time! The beds were just perfect. When we woke up in the morning, it was sunny- and we saw the view- The lake. It was beautiful! Apart from the perfect cabin, the owners were great too! We found ourselves needing help, and they were there for us. I can't say enough good things about this place, and part of me doesn't want to share how great of a place this is with others- I want to keep it for myself! Like the title states, we are planning to go back next year at the same time (June), and are planning a trip back in October. We simply can not wait!!

“Beautiful spacious cabin on Moosehead Lake - not to be missed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 October 2009

We visited Moosehead Lake at the very end of the season - some of the restaurants closed Columbus Day, and we arrived just after. We picked the Moosehead Hills cabins sight-unseen through Travel Advisor, and were delighted. Tomhegan, the cabin we stayed in, is the smallest of the three on the property, but was totally adequate for two couples. It was spotlessly clean, and while rustic, wasn't at all lacking in amenities. The king-bed room upstairs was very spacious and had a terrific view of the lake, while the lower queen-bed room, while a little small, was very comfortable, and had a view that was every bit as good.

An example of thoughtful design - the upstairs only has a half-bath. The full bath downstairs is located such that you can visit it from upstairs in privacy while the downstairs guests are relaxing in the living room - a very nice touch. The kitchen is quite adequate and well equipped - we could have cooked dinner there easily had we cared to.

Finally, the owners were very pleasant and helpful.

All in all a great experience

Moosehead Hills Cabins in Greenville, Maine: "Simply Awesome!"
January 11, 2009
I have just returned from Greenville, Maine. I was looking for that perfect place to get away from absolutely everything and experience that cold which I never get since I live in Miami, Florida.
My daughter and I and the rest in our party wanted to see snow fall as well. I found Moosehead Hills Cabins and I am so glad I did. Sally and Bill who helped with the rental were extremely helpful and informative. The cabin is simply beautiful, not to mention the location. It faces a huge lake which was covered with snow but should be beautiful during any other time of the year. It is private and secluded and surrounded by huge trees that complement the whole scenario.
This cabin (the Loon Lodge) is new. It has three bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms, washer and dryer and a very comfortable kitchen and a living room with a fireplace. The porch surrounds the entire front and side of the cabin and leads to the lake in the woods. The views from absolutely all the places in the cabin are breathtaking. It truly looked like something taken out of a post card. The snow covered almost everything! The windows in the living room and the kitchen are huge, they allow you to enjoy this view at all times. In addition to this, the cabin has windows on the ceiling that let the sunlight come in. The town is only twenty minutes away and it provides you with everything that you need (gas, groceries, ski shops, restaurants, etc).
Our kids had a blast rolling in the snow not to mention the fun they had snow tubing and snow boarding. There were many other activities to enjoy as well. If you are looking for a serene and tranquil place to simply get away, look no further. It is truly a wonderful place to visit. It is Heaven on Earth!!!!

Very clean and spacious cabin (Tomhegan) afforded a picturesque and enjoyable three days in the Maine Highlands! Owners very accommodating and helpful with local info. Two story cabin affords beautiful views of Moosehead Lake as well as offering most of the amentities of home. Nice to curl up and read being warmed by the heat of the fireplace. Hope to return someday!

“Beautiful Cabin, Breathtaking View”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 December 2007

We visited Greenville, ME the weekend of December 7 to go on the Christmas at Moosehead Inn Walk. We rented one of the 3 Moosehead Hills Cabins (the Tomhegan Cabin) overlooking Moosehead Lake. It was wonderful – extremely spacious and very well-equipped. The large kitchen had everything you’d expect, plus items like a wooden rolling pin, pizza pan, a colander. There was a wood-burning stove with a supply of wood which we enjoyed, but the cabin was kept very cozy and warm with the regular heating system; the stove added atmosphere. The décor had rustic woodsy touches like birch-bark mirrors and a moose-themed shower curtain, but also had luxury touches like a Jacuzzi tub and tiled kitchen countertop. The 3 cabins are spaced well apart, giving total privacy.

The view of the lake and mountains from the cabin is phenomenal and can be seen from every room except the bathrooms. Two of the cabins’ closest neighbors are the upscale Lodge at Moosehead Lake and Blair Hill Inn, which are also beautiful properties. If you’re looking for a comfortable cabin experience and want to spend less money and get the same incredible views, I’d highly recommend Moosehead Hills Cabins.

We can also recommend the Inn Walk. For a very reasonable fee, we were able to tour 4 stunning inns and lodges, a private home, and a mansion owned by the Moosehead Historical Society, all decked out in their holiday finery. We got to see virtually every unoccupied room in each place, and they served delicious treats and beverages, too. This was a great way to spend a snowy pre-Christmas afternoon.

While we’re making recommendations, we’ll also suggest dropping by Lakeshore Provisions, a lovely gourmet food shop in town. They also operate a small café and bakery, and the ultimate grilled cheese sandwich on panini bread lived up to its name. All of the baked goods we tried were also delicious.
