“Sets a 5***** standard for all B & Bs”

My wife and I visited Maine one year ago ex-UK at the start of my retirement to see the fall colours
We loved it , also all the friendly people that we met. So much so we returned in 2010.
We knew Greenville and found The Evergreen Lodge on Trip Advisor.
This is our idea of escape to both peace and quiet and again the fall colors were spectacular.
The B and B is far superior to any we ever stayed in, both in the UK and New England.
A previous reviewer complained about quiet time after 10pm! It influenced our choice.
The TV in the lounge was available but ignored. So many nice people to talk too.
Janice and Hank thank you for a few memorable days. HIGHLY recommended.

“Relaxing and with all the comforts of home”

Husband and I attended the sea plane fly in in Greenville, ME and did not know the area. We selected this B and B online and "took our chances". We found a lovely and intimate place at the Evergreen Lodge. Styled in a "log cabin" feel, this respite provided a soft bed and a wonderfully cooked breakfast and gracious hosts: Janice and Hank.
This is not a wallpapered "frilly" b and b, rather one that melds with the outdoors atmosphere of Maine. Tongue and groove pine paneled walls, brick hearth, log cabin type furniture on elegant grounds.

“Best B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2009

I usually make it to Maine once or twice a year and treat myself to a Bed and Breakfast. Must say, this has got to be one of the best, if not the best B&B I have ever stayed in. It was immaculately clean and the whole place exuded such a nice energy, not to mention the beautifully landscaped grounds nestled among tall trees. Though not directly on the Lake, the peace and serenity here, far made up for this. Besides, the Lake was practically a stone's throw away. Janice's wild blueberry pancakes were scrumptious and it was enchanting sitting in the dining area overlooking the backyard with all the birds. I thought it was perfect that there were no TVs in the room....there was a comfy living room to sit in if one absolutely needed to get a fix of TV. However, for me, the whole gist of going to Maine was submerge myself in nature, which was just what I needed, and I was glad that there was limited access to my cell phone and computer too. For those serious nature buffs, I highly recommend hooking up with with the folks at Northwoods Outfitters, in town, and book yourself a tour or two, or rent a kayak. In all of my years coming to Maine, I have never seen a moose....on the early morning moose safari (via canoe) we saw six!! Yes, I would highly recommend this B&B to everyone. Janice and Harold are wonderful people and truely what Maine is all about.

“Short On value”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2007

My wife and I were in NE for over 3 weeks and this property was one of the lowest rated by us. The reasons we score it low are:

No TV or wi-fi available in the rooms. There is a TV downstairs, but
"quiet time" starts at 9pm, so that just makes one a little self-aware and nervous about any noise created. The breakfast consisted of a small serving of a fruit cobler dish and an "Egg McMuffin" style sandwich with a small glass of juice. We were all hungry when it was over.

The price was the highest we paid during our 3+ weeks in NE. The hosts didn't seem to be as welcoming as what we were and would be accustomed to.

The good points of this property for us are:

Convenient location when splitting up the scenic drive we were on.
The rooms were warm, clean, large but cozy, nice decorated, and our private bath was nice. Easy parking and quiet setting.

  • Liked — Room decor
  • Disliked — Price, small breakfast.

“Loved the Evergreen and the Moose Next Door”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 July 2007

My wife and I had a wonderful one night stay at the Evergreen Lodge. Everything about this inn is well done. Janice was welcoming and wonderful providing both a wonderful place to stay and help in the local area.

We were excited to learn that one of the top moose viewing locations in Maine is less than a mile north on highway 15. We were able to view and photograph several moose even though our time was limited.

We wish we had allowed more time to stay. This was a perfect stop for us on our drive from the Maine Mid-Coast to Quebec City.
