I have stayed there twice..once in each room., and though it may not be the most private place..we were comfy, and had a lot of fun. The owner and the staff were great, and he never locked us out. We were told just to knock at the front door. Yes I statyed in much nicer places..but The Black frog in Greenville is still one of my faves. We were there in winter weather

The 2 suites upstairs are stuffy and grimy, I guess do to restaurant below. Smoking is allowed as are pets. Housekeeping changes sheets but does not clean. Upstairs deck is great location with view but is asphalt roofing so tar gets carried into suites. No screens on windows. Loud noises from street anf smells. I will never reccomend this place.

I am a frequent visitor to the Greenville Maine area. I have several issues with the Black Frog from my May 08 stay. I'll start with the food. It cannot compare to Flatlanders pub across the street. Although the menu at the Black Frog is somewhat humorous, the food is less than disirerable. The so called 2 'suites' above the restaurant are absolutely awful and totally overpriced! Unless you like wood paneled 1950's decor with no air conditioning. There is no privacy inside due to the sheer panels on the windows and sliding door that face the deck that is used by the owner who lives on the premises and the guests to the 2nd suite. Also, there are no locks on the door to enter your 'suite'. The most unbelievable part is that after 10 pm the owner locks the front door to the establishment and does not provide guests with a key. Therefore, if you choose to visit the local bars such as the Streefree Moose (which I highly recommend) and stay out past 10 you WILL be locked out as I was. For the money the Kineo Lodge is a better pick with a much cleaner room.
