Visited Georgetown Island for a friend's wedding at the neighboring Grey Havens Inn and were lucky enough to land a room, at the very last minute, at this beautiful B&B just down the road. We stayed two wonderful relaxing nights in the Violet room at the Mooring and spent the weekend exploring nearby towns (great for exploring, antiquing, & hiking) & scenic drives along Rt 1 & Reid State Park. The 5 bedroom house is less than 1/4 mile from the Grey Havens and, in my opinion, far more beautiful. The view, for which Grey Havens is known, is largely the same from the patio of the Mooring, as they're constructed along the same coastline. Our room was beautifully & simply appointed with a light country feel: quilted bedding, flowery decorm, bright white walls, & a perfect cushioned window seat for reading up on things to do in the area. Breakfast was served every morning at 8am, and places were set in the sunlit garden room, ready for coffee conversation. On nice days you could bring your breakfast out to the huge patio facing the water & have your coffee while watching the lobster boats head out. The kitchen is stocked with anything you could ever need, including wine & coffee, fruits & munchies of all sorts. The maid service was wonderful & the house was spotless overall. The hostess was cheerful, kind & helpful with everything. The Mooring was our first B&B experience which I've been both anticipating and fearing at the same time -- it was nothing short of perfect in our minds and not at all claustrophobig or overbearing like I'd feared. We definitely recommend the Mooring for the ideal quiet, lovely weekend along the Maine mid-coast.
