“Clean, basic rooms in a great location.”

We travel to freeport several times per year and have previously stayed at Comfort Suites, Best Western and the Maine Idyll Court.

If you are looking to live in the lap of luxury, look elsewhere. If you are looking for clean, basic accomodations at a price that will allow you to shop 'til you drop at all the great Freeport outlets because of all the money you saved on hotels, this is the place for you!

The Village Inn offers basic rooms that are cleaned to the point you could literally eat off the floor. It's the cleanest room I've ever been in and I tried hard to find the dirt! The breakfast (which is included in the price of the room) is excellent. You have the choice of bacon and eggs, pancakes or French toast, coffee, juice, etc.

The hosts are an older couple who are lifelong residents of Freeport. Very sweet people and willing to chat about things to do in the area, etc.

We loved the location of the inn. We could walk to LL Bean in about 5 minutes.

For the price, this is a great spot! I will stay here again! Happy travels!

Stayed here while traveling through New England. The location is great and has easy access to shops. The room was very basic, but really clean. The hosts were very friendly and cooked our breakfast to order. I would have no problem staying here again should I be in this area in future.

“Great basic room at a reasonable price”

We ended up here after a horrible stay at the Maine Idyll Motor Court and were very pleased. The hosts were very nice, polite and friendly. The room was simple but beautifully clean ( I'm a professional cleaner). The bed was very comfortable and the price made it better! The location is perfect for Freeport and we were surprised to find a lovely homemade breakfast included in the price. We'll definitely go back!

“overpriced and not so nice”

Stayed for one night on way up to Acadia. Was very unimpressed with the room (run down and didn't look very clean). I couldn't even get myself to shower there - put it off for our next stop. Uncomfortable mattresses and reading chair. Questionable overall cleanliness. The only thing the hotel has going for it is great location - and I guess that is why they can rent a run-down room for over $120 per night.

One of the other members of our party told us that on the day we were supposed to leave her room was cleaned before she completed her checkout or returned her key. After breakfast she attempted to go to her room to use the restroom. The cleaning person told her that her room had been cleaned and that she couldn't reenter, but that she could use someone else's uncleaned room. Gross!

“Blueberry pancakes were the best!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 August 2010

My husband and I stayed at the Village Inn while in Maine on our honeymoon. It was a wonderful way to start our trip. The inn was on Main Street, just a short walk from the downtown stores, but was still quiet and peaceful. The room was basic, like other reviews have stated, but it was clean and well-kept. The breakfast that the owners served was fantastic! I chose the blueberry pancakes, scrambled eggs, and bacon every day and enjoyed an excellent meal. The owners were also very helpful in offering suggestions for activities and restaurants. We enjoyed a beautiful hike at Bradbury State Park after taking their advice.

Only thing: a stay at the Village Inn includes a coupon for 15% off at the Jameson restaurant. If you use the coupon, be aware that it's an expensive, fancy restaurant! My husband and I were a little caught off guard by their prices.
