“I heart the Pentagoet Inn”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 February 2012

If you are looking for a warm welcome and relaxing stay in one of the best small towns in Maine, the Pentagoet is your place. From the courteous staff, and heart warming owners you can rely on a 5 star stay.

My husband and I stayed in the left corner second floor "suite" with a bear claw tub. The room was spacious, clean, and the tub to die for after a long flight from Phoenix. The bed was comfortable and sleep was so sound I didn't even hear the thunderstorm.

The town of Castine is quaint and loveable. From the Penobscot Bay and the cadets and the Maritime academy, and the local Mainer's, what is there not to love. There are a few bars restaurants in town and a coffee shop. All with in walking distance.

I promise you will love the Pentagoet Inn as much as I do!

“Quaint, charming inn on the coast of Maine”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 December 2011

I usually stay with family when I visit Castine, Maine, but when I visited during the summer of 2011, my aunt and uncle had a full house (their son was getting married). So, I booked a room at the Pentagoet Inn. Now I want to stay there every time I go back! The staff is incredibly friendly, the inn is a beautiful, Victorian style building, and the rooms are quaint and comfortable. We had one of the larger rooms on the third floor, which we found very comfortable and clean. The dining room has a lovely ambiance and serves delicious dinners as well as complimentary breakfast in the morning. Make sure you stop by the pub for a nightcap and a board game.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 9, which was spacious compared to some of the others.

“I'll Be Back”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 November 2011

I live in the Philadelphia area and was in Castine for a friends wedding and the Pentagoet Inn was suggested by the bride & groom. I do quite a bit of business travel and I am not the B&B type but I was so pleasantly surprised by the Pentagoet Inn. From the warm welcome to my comfortable room. What a great place. The owner Jack was a wealth of helpful information. I really enjoyed our conversation. Several of my friends stayed there also for the wedding and it felt like home. I only wish we could have stayed longer. With just a 45 minutes drive from the Bangor airport. I will defintely be back!

Room Tip: I stayed in room #2 it was lovely.

“Beyond a Bed and Breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2011

My wife and I were exploring Maine for the first time this fall (2011) and found ourselves unexpectedly in Castine. Once there we just didn’t have the energy or wish to leave. Finding lodging for us is always a painful, laborious process by bridging an “anything is ok attitude” (me) with a “I absolutely need privacy” together. Neither of us are very keen on the typical “Bed and Breakfast” style as seen on the West Coast. So with all this extra baggage we entered the Inn with one foot on the ready to leave….we ended up being thrilled with our stay. My favorite space was the bar which is a living testament to the State department career of the owner, Jack. If you think you know your political history, this room will certainly test you as the walls are a collage of political pictures and artifacts that defies description. The morning breakfast was included and served in a very welcoming dining area…with private settings. Jack is almost obsessively insistent that you try out his fleet of touring bicycles that he offers to his guests…we alas ran out of time to take him up on the offer. The Inn is also centrally located and within walking (or bicycling) distance of the town. During our two weeks in Maine, our stay at the Pentagoet Inn was the best and at the top of my list as memorable.

“Go to Pentagoet”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 November 2011

My wife and I spent two nights at the Pentagoet Inn. It was a busy weekend in Castine with a large wedding and a college class reunion in town filling the local inns. However, the personal service we received from the Pentagoet owners made us feel special. Our room was clean, very comfortable and nicely decorated. On-the-street parking was always available and convenient. Breakfast was excellent with all home-cooked options. Dinner was very good and graciously served. While there is no real bar, you can get a cocktail in the early evening and there are no boisterous gatherings later to disturb the guests. The central location makes it easy to walk everywhere in Castine. In summary, a charming place, fair value and we would return happily.

Room Tip: Stairs are steep and hallways narrow so a room closer to the front is desirable.
