“Peaceful haven at this Inn!”

An incredible trip to Camden in July was anchored by my 10 nights at this Inn with Cyndi and Jim. From day 1, they both made me feel warmly welcomed. Each morning, I enjoyed a delicious breakfast prepared by Chef Jim before setting out for one of a thousand adventures in Canden. Cyndi was very helpful with suggestions here. My friend and I took several side sailing trips - and they were amazing. I found peace here in Camden and at this Inn, and enjoyed my stay immensely. These 2 giving people are now friends - and I hope to see them again next year! They made my entire adventure to Maine a wonderful and unforgettable experience.

“Always wonderful!”

We stayed here on our way to Bar Harbor. We have also stayed for Christmas by the Sea week-end. The inn is lovely (and the decorations during the Holidays beautiful). Each room has it's own personality. The gas fireplaces are so welcoming and the common rooms cozy and inviting - read the paper, play scrabble, have a glass of wine. (good selection of wines). The breakfasts are amazing, and Cyndi and chef, Jim, are very accommodating to dietary restrictions. The dinners for guests are delicious. They use local ingredients when possible. Local meat, fish, cheese, sausage, greens, etc. The rooms are spotless, with every need accounted for. Don't know what to do in the area-? Cyndi and Jim know - from apple picking- to kayaking- to recommendations for good restaurants. Walk to town and the harbor-- no need to find a place to park.

“The Inns at Blackberry Awesome.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 November 2011

My girlfriend and I live relatively close to Camden, but still wanted to stay at a Bed & Breakfast for a romantic weekend retreat. Even in the "quiet season" they had a great selection of rooms. This was essentially a surprise for my lady, and I'm so glad I made this choice, because it exceeded both our expectations.
First, the short notice. I called for one room, one night, that night... and we were showing up later than regular Check-In hours. Cyndi Ostrowski was more than happy to accomodate us, so glad we were at least showing up before nine so she could get a solid dinner recommendation. It was Jim who greeted us at the door, at seven thirty, and was more than happy to give us the tour, offer amenities, recommend dining and make us feel comfortable.
Second, the room. Exactly what I envisioned as a New England bed and breakfast coastal town, and it made her dance behind his back in excitement. The woodstove.. the four post bed.. even the rugs, ceilings, trunks and windows. This place was inviting, and even an hour and a half from Portland, we were totally on vacation.
Third: Breakfast. Homemade granola, local yogurt, fresh waffles, berry sauces and intimate setting. I could go on, I won't, just trust. Both innkeepers prepared our meal, and served us gracefully. Jim chatted us up about travelling around the country while Cyndi wanted to know about our evening on the town. They filled us in to the winter festivities, which believe me, we'll most definitely be back for.
Our trip went spectacular. The Blackberry Commons was truly the focal point.

Room Tip: Go second story, go big bed, go fireplace.

“Sometimes, it's the keeper, not the inn”

I would highly advise anyone AGAINST staying here.

We made a reservation for a 2-night stay, confirming that the inn was dog-friendly. When we checked in, Cyndi Ostrowski (the innkeeper) informed us that, while the inn is dog-friendly, this did not apply to the room we had booked! She claimed that it was the policy of many inns to restrict dogs to certain rooms.

In 40+ years of traveling with dogs, I never have encountered such a policy even once before. By way of contrast, Ritz Carleton–universally acknowledged as one of the world’s premier hotel chains–accepts dogs in all their rooms all the time.

Nonetheless, Ms Ostrowski insisted that we instead stay in another room. The Marshal Point room was vastly inferior–significantly below the Bates Motel of Psycho fame. In fact, the room was so substandard, we decided to check out after only one night. Ms Ostrowski said she understood. She said she would have given us a refund immediately; however, as the booking was made via a 3rd party reservation service, she undertook to contact them to initiate a refund.

We did not hear from Ms Ostrowski and our calls to her were not returned. We subsequently received written notice from the reservation service that, in direct contradiction to what she had stated to us, Ms Ostrowski told them that because it was “inside of the cancellation policy, [she was holding us] responsible for the full cost of the stay.” She even wanted us to pay the full amount for the room we had booked, not the cheap room she made us stay in.

Blackberry’s “Marshal Point” room is atrocious. So is the innkeeper’s lack of integrity.

Room Tip: Choose a different place to stay.

“Old and small but very charming”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 October 2011

This is a very old Inn that has been lovingly restored and maintained. our room was very small but perfectly adequate and comfortable. We thought noise from the main road might be a problem as our room was toward the front of the house, but we slept with windows open and were not bothered at all. Jim and Cyndi were enthusiastic hosts eager to share and recommend interesting things to do. We enjoyed them both. TV's are not available in every room which was a bit disappointing for the baseball fans in our group. If that is important to you,, be sure to ask which rooms have them. I think the gardens would be a lovely place to spend time earlier in the season, they were just going to bed for the season when we were there. Breakfasts were special, surprise local treats every morning. Great stay overall.

Room Tip: Ask which rooms have television if that is important to you
