“Dated but nice”

My family has been vacationing in Camden, ME since before I was born, as we have family who live there, so we are very familiar with the town. We decided to stay here based on the price, which was very reasonable for the week of the Lobster Festival, and the fact that our family who lives in town said the restaurant at the Cedar Crest had the best breakfast in town. Not only was the breakfast delicious, but the pizza was amazing as well (and this coming from someone who is used to NY pizza!) We liked that the Inn was so close to town, and within walking distance of a little shopping center with a Renys, laundry mat, and yummy food truck. The rooms were clean BUT quite dated, and the bathroom definitely needed updating. I was disappointed with the size of the bathroom - there was barely any counterspace which made it very difficult when trying to get ready in the morning with a hair dryer, hair straightener, makeup bag, etc. There was also no vent (that I can recall) and the tub had mold/mildew(?) stains which grossed me out so I bathed my 1-year-old in the sink instead. Also, the walls of the room were paper-thin so we could hear everything from the rooms around us which was annoying when we were trying to put our baby to sleep and the people downstairs kept slamming their door going in & out of the room. Overall I don't know that we would stay here again unless they updated the rooms.

“Clean & Quiet, But not an Inn”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 October 2011

We stayed a couple of nights in mid October. Our room was spacious. The beds were very comfortable. The shower was great. The mini-fridge saved a couple of bucks on soft drinks. It had full and easily accessed free wifi in the room.

It was very nice, but I would call it a high-end motel, not an Inn. It lacked the central gathering areas and had zero ambience. Greeting and departure (same person) were efficient and impersonal.

The restaurant on the site (Elm Street Grille) was very good. More a "local place" than "Inn Ambience" but I like "local places".

Room Tip: 43 was very nice (two queens) mini-fridge, iron & board

On Mondays, guests are offered a light continental breakfast. We have offered Free WiFi in our guest rooms for the past 3 years and it is password protected for our guests.

Even more to offer.. our seasonal hotel is just a fifteen minute walk to Camden Village. We have an outdoor pool open from the middle of June to the middle of September each year. “It was an outstanding trip as well as location"”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

This seasonal motel in Camden, Maine is an excellent venue. It is neear the centre of Camden. The restaurant food while American, is beautifully prepared and reasonable. The Pizza aspect of their restaurant offers a pleasant alternative. The 4 back units when available, offer an outstanding private comfortable deck behind the cedar trees. The rooms while typical American motel, are clean, comfortable and quiet.

Room Tip: The four back units

“Decent place, terrible customer relations.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 September 2011

I should state up front that our one night stay at the Cedar Crest Inn was nice, until check out time. The recent was reasonable, the room was clean, the pool was refreshing, and the beds were comfortable. My only complaint comes at the end of the stay.

Upon check-in we had requested, and were given, a late checkout so that we could return to our room and shower after running. Upon returning to our room we received a phone call asking when we were going to be checking out. When I related the information about the late checkout we were told that there was no record of this and that we had to leave. As we were packing up, we were again called and rudely told we had to leave now or pay for an extra night. It was only 30 minutes past normal checkout time.
I have never been treated so rudely by the staff of a hotel. Based on that experience alone I would not recommend the Cedar Crest Inn.

It is unfortunate that your late check-out request was not carried out by our staff and we hope that you accept our apologies for this slight misunderstanding. During check-in, we usually ask that you call the front desk clerk on the morning of check-out, especially in July and August when we are very busy with incoming reservations.
Travel Tip of the Day
How to request a late check-out.
As a courtesy, most hotels will grant you a little extra time before you must leave your room, especially if it isn’t booked for the upcoming evening. But it is best to call the front desk in advance and request a late checkout on the morning you are to depart. If not, you’ll likely be billed for additional hours or an entire day. If late checkout isn’t available and you don’t want to deal with your bags, ask to leave your bags with the desk staff. Many hotels will be more than happy to accommodate your needs. Thank you, Elizabeth Cole
