“Terrific inn with fantastic staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 November 2011

My wife and I celebrated our marriage at the Whitehall Inn this past October and things could not have been better. We decided to have both the ceremony and the reception at the inn which was not a problem at all. As we planned our event, the innkeepers/owners, Rebecca and Russ were extremely helpful and patient as we worked out the menu and the room allocations for guests. We were lucky that most of the guests were able to stay at the inn on the night of the wedding as everyone we talked to had nothing but great things to say about the food and the service. Before we spent the weekend we wondered if the breakfast could be as good as they claim-it is! Homemade english muffins, fresh fruit, bacon and the best poached eggs. Damian and the kitchen and wait staff were amazing during our reception and the weekend.
We truly had a wonderful time and look forward to returning for our anniversary next year. Thank you so much for the wonderful memories.

“Wish we could have stayed longer!”

Only stayed at the Whitehall Inn for two nights during our travels through Maine and I
wish I would have planned for a longer stay. The inn is lovely, a step back in time but with updated conveniences in the rooms. We liked being able to open the windows for fresh air, instead of having to use the a/c unit. Beds were comfortable with a wonderful down comforter and dreamy pillows. The breakfast (included in our room rate) was the best of any B/B or Inn we have ever stayed. Fresh squeezed o.j., fresh fruit, homemade breads, we could order off a menu or enjoy the buffet. Everything was outstanding and the wait staff excellent. We were in Camden on a Monday/Tuesday and had plans for dinner in town on Monday and since the dining room was closed on Tuesday, we did not have a chance to experience dinner at the Inn. Our room was on the 3rd flr with narrow stairs to climb, we didn't mind, and a high sided claw foot tub in the bathroom, which was fine for us, but might be a bit difficult for an elderly person or someone with leg/knee problems. The owners and front desk personnel were very helpful with suggestions on sightseeing etc and were very welcoming and friendly. When I was planning our trip I was very undecided between staying here or at the Lord Camden Inn.....I'm sure the Lord Camden would have been a nice experience, but I am so glad I decided on the Whitehall Inn and look forward to our next visit, probably next SEPT, for longer then two nights.

Room Tip: Book early to have the best choice of rooms.

“A step back in time with modern day amenities.”

We made an unplanned stop in Camden and what we found was a most lovely historical harbor town with lots to do. Our choice of staying at the Whitehall Inn was an excellent decision. The owners were so friendly and made us feel right at home. We loved the room with the most comfortable bed and decorated so elegantly. The front porch rockers were an invitation to sit a spell and visit with some of the other travelers who had also found this treasure. There was always hot or iced tea available and the breakfast in the dining room was out of this world with fresh squeezed OJ and choice of anything on the menu included in the price of the room. We will definitely find our way back to this hotel again and would highly recommend.

“An elegant inn with an historical significance”

Camden, Maine is the quintessential New England seaside town with a gorgeous harbor, spired churches, fine restaurants, and a quaint downtown area. One of its most historic buildings is the Whitehall Inn. Built in the 19th century, the inn has served as the gathering place for travelers and the people of Camden for over a hundred years. The inn was featured in The 1957 film, Peyton Place which starred Lana Turner. The inn maintains the elegance of a bygone era, but with very modern convinces. Rooms feature crown moldings, wainscot panels, a claw-foot tub, patterned tile floors in the bathroom, and even a transom window over the door, but also have wireless wi fi and flat panel tv sets. The restaurant serves both buffet and cooked to order breakfasts and dining room has a diverse menu at an affordable price. The staff fills you in on local adventures and places to go for the best viewing of the fall foliage. Of special interest was the collection of Pulizer prize winning poet Edna St. Vincent Millay memorabilia. The inn is filled with photos from the Peyton Place movie and Millay. There is even a photo of Mae West who visited the inn and a plaque outside her room. The inn is a favorite for destination weddings. This inn was our favorite during our swing through New England.
