“Very helpful cheerful staff, excellent standard of cleanliness & comfort, beautiful view waterside”

Myu husband and I usually travel without reservations as we spend the night where we think is an interesting place to stay. On entering the Inn we found out that it was no longer a Best Western and were prepared to leave but fortunately decided to stay. We were pleasantly surprised. The lady at the reception area was very personable and helpful. She recommended McLeod's Restaurant directly across the street from the Inn. We didn't have high hopes on entering the establishment - but the food was excellent and was comparable to most fine dining establishments (without the fuss).as was the service. Our room was very well furnished and very clean (no dust to be found anywhere). The continental breakfast didn't have a large assortment of choices but was very good nonetheless and the staff was very helpful and friendly. The Inn, in general, is a very homey and comfortable place and we will definitely stay there on our next trip through Maine.

“Beautiful Waterfront, Excellent Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 April 2010

The view from our waterfront room was great. It's what you'd expect from a Maine coastal town. The mile long river walk was beautifully designed and well kept. Bucksport is quaint little town with a small downtown with some shops. Theres a bookstore across the street and directly across the street was one of my favorite restaurants (seafood / steaks). Our room was clean and bright. The staff was friendly. No microwave or minifridge, but I stayed at a $500/night resort near the Catskills that also didn't have them. The room was quiet... Great sleep!

“Great Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 December 2009

As with other reviews, request a river view well worth it. Overall hotel a little "tired" but staff were very freindly. A good base for exploration.

“Breathtaking Location for a Hotel.”

This hotel was a wonderful place to stay. It was clean, the staff was very friendly, and the surrounding area was amazing. Definitely request a room with a river view; it's worth it. There are no washers or dryers in the hotel, but there is a coin laundry less than two miles down the road. The breakfast was a nice continental, and everything was refilled quickly if it ran out. There's no room designated for breakfast, but everything is individually packaged so that you can easily take what you'd like back to your room on a tray. Everyone we met in the town was friendly and helpful. The hotel is about 45 minutes away from Acadia National Park; but it's a quick drive with some nice scenery along the way as you get closer to the park. It was also cheaper to stay here than to stay in Bar Harbor. We (a mother with two teenagers) would definitely stay here again.

We stayed in the Best Western in Bucksport Maine for three nights. We took short trips to Bangor and Bar Harbor. We had a very large room (executive suite) on the fourth floor it had a beautiful view of the Penobscot river ,bridge and Fort Knox. The people that run the hotel was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed the the mile long river walk be hind the hotel. We had dinner at Macleod's across the street two nights and dinner at the Seabreeze Restaurant across the bridge on verona island one night. Very good and it is very busy with a lot of locals and others who hear about the good food and good prices. We stopped there for breakfast the morning we left Bucksport, very good breakfast.
