“Great hosts, quaint b&b and super convenient location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 August 2011

This was our second trip to Bridgton House (first trip was 2010), and we will be back in a couple of weeks, visiting our daughter at a nearby camp. The owners are welcoming and the atmosphere is relaxed. Breakfast is nice, and varies daily. During our stays, the other guests were also parents or families of campers at various local camps, so the whole inn felt like "happy camper central." The inn is pleasant, if a bit down-at-heel. It is clean and comfortable, with a/c in the rooms. The location is fabulous. You can walk all around "downtown" Bridgeton from it, and also walk to Highland Lake's public beach.

Room Tip: If you plan to go in July or August, book early. Repeat guests get first dibs.

“Our favorite Bed and Breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 August 2008

Bridgton House was recommended to us three years ago by the director of my son's camp, and since then we have stayed there three times each year. We bring our son and daughter for a brief family vacation prior to dropping our son off at camp in late June, and stay in two rooms. My husband and I are childless for camp visiting weekends during July and August. All nine of our stays so far have been great and we are looking forward to returning to Bridgton House another three times next year. We have stayed in all of the guest rooms with baths, and they are all charming and comfortable. The Main Street location can't be beat. It is right in town, within walking distance of restaurants, shops, the movie theater, and the bookstore. The lake is close by.
Bill and Tina are warm, welcoming hosts who are knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the Bridgton area and its history. Although the house is filled with antiques and period pieces, it is quite child friendly and the Berghoff's four incredibly polite children are sometimes out and about. The breakfasts are delicious!!! Praline french toast, quiche, or some other wonderful homemade casserole Tina has whipped up, plus home made breads, bacon, fresh fruit, orange juice and coffee are all elegantly laid out. Kid friendly cereals, granola, and oatmeal are also available. My daughter, usually a picky eater, always manages to eat a big breakfast at Bridgton House. We love to have breakfast in the screened-in gazebo on the large wraparound porch, where we have gotten into interesting conversations with other guests that we wish would never end. The main room, with its beautiful fireplace and comfortable couch, is often a gathering place for guests in the early evening, and also houses a collection of books and photographs about the Bridgton region.
We recently recommended Bridgton House to another couple, and after their visit, they told us they could not imagine staying anywhere else in Bridgton. We heartily agree!

“A Perfect Bed and Breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2008

Maine in the summer can be a wonderful place to visit if you have a nice place to stay. The Bridgton House is a terrific B & B in Bridgton, Maine, a nice town in the beautiful southeastern part of the state close to New Hampshire, which I stumbled across by sheer good luck the first time I stayed there three or four years ago.. It has been a perfect magnet every since. Bill and Tina, the proprietors, are gracious and interesting, and their entire family is completely welcoming and accommodating. Tina, who is the kitchen artist, makes a breakfast that alone will keep you coming back to the Bridgton House, whether you had been planning to come to Maine or not. I have recommended it to good friends, and I recommend it to anyone who wants a completely welcoming atmosphere, comfort, and great food.

“Our Favorite Maine B & B”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 July 2008

We stumbled across the Bridgton House three years ago when we were visiting our daughter at camp. What a lucky find! The inn is comfortable, with lovely rooms and adequate baths, mostly en suite. The location is quite good, in the lovely Maine town of Bridgton, close to the lake. Innkeepers Bill and Tina Berghoff, with their four children and two dogs, are warm and welcoming without being intrusive. Breakfast is nothing short of fabulous! Tina is a wizard in the kitchen. The inn has been decorated with period furnishings and lots of interesting memorabilia about the area. We particularly enjoyed their book on the history of Camps Winona and Wyonegonic. If you're lucky, you'll find the Berghoff children at home and one of them will lead you to the lake. We now always stay at the Bridgton House when we visit camp - four times in the last three years - and we love it.

  • Liked — Great location, warm and charming.
  • Disliked — On main road, so front rooms can be a little noisy.
