My husband and I paid a short visit to Boothbay Harbor this summer. I was surprised to find accomodations on short notice at the Harbour Towne Inn, and for a cheap price - and now I know why. The room we rented was behind the building in the basement. There were no windows, and the sliding door came out directly onto the patio, so was not an option for leaving open at night. The "kitchen" consisted of a small refrigerator and a stovetop. We used neither. The "view" was of a small inlet. We did go down onto the dock where they had some chairs to sit and watch the sunset. We never got to see the rest of the Inn, so I don't know if the more expensive rooms are worth the price.
Breakfast is always of prime concern when we stay at a B and B, and this one was, again, average. It was self-serve, off a counter, and was very, very inconvenient to access. The door to the porch was at the end of the very narrow serving area, and people had to turn sideways or wait their turn to serve themselves and then get outside to sit and eat.
The Inn itself was situated on a quiet street, and was an easy walk to the downtown.
