“The Perfect Place”

My boyfriend and I took a trip to Maine to celebrate the holidays and finally having some time to relax. I picked this inn because of the great location close to the water and the town, but also because for a gorgeous king room it was under $100! Our room was clean and had a private balcony, the breakfast was delicious (eggs, home fries, waffle and yummy muffin!) and the innkeeper gave us a great recommendation for dinner. I would definitely return and wholeheartedly recommend this inn, especially in the winter!

“Great location, reasonable rates.”

We were very happy with our two night stay at Captain Sawyer's Place. The inn is located just steps from shopping and restaurants. We enjoyed people watching from the large front porch. Our room was small but comfortable and breakfast included muffins/coffee cakes, cereal, quiche and waffles. Prices were very reasonable, the innkeeper was very friendly and helpful. Would stay here again.

“Super Location”

This is an old sea captains house right in town, the location is very convenient for all the shops, restaurants and the water. A great wraparound porch on the 1st floor and porch on second floor that offers a nice view of the harbor. The owner is very warm and makes you feel right at home. The breakfast, quiche and waffles, are very good although it appears it is the same every day so you may want to go out for breakfast if staying several days. Rooms are small but comfortable and very quiet, we did not hear any other guests even though the place was full. Prices are very reasonable for the area. We would definitely stay here again.

“We love Captain Sawyer's Place”

We highly recommend Captain Sawyer's as the place to stay when you visit Boothbay Harbor. We have been staying with Kim at Captain Sawyer's for many years. It's a wonderful home away from home. Kim, the owner, is a wonderful hostess and goes out of her way to make her customers feel like part of the family. Great breakfasts...the quiche is fabulous as are her breads and waffles. You never go away from the table hungry. But the front porch...it's the best...rocking chairs, views of the harbor and people walking to and fro. Bring your glass of wine and relax. And, her prices are reasonable. You still have money left over for all the fine food Boothbay Harbor has to offer.

“Cozy, relaxing, great value!”

I recently spent five nights at Capt. Sawyer's and highly recommend it. The innkeeper is personable, a lifelong resident and great source of information about the region. As remarked in other reviews, her breakfasts are above and beyond the call of duty, with fresh-baked muffins, quiche, and waffles every morning. Rooms vary in size but all are well kept and charmingly furnished in this historic home - four poster bed, quilts, homey touches throughout. The property has large and lovely first and second floor porches with flower pots everywhere -great places for sitting back and watching the world go by. Centrally located on Commercial St. in very easy walking distance of restaurants, shops, and the piers. Compared to prices of other B&Bs, I thought Capt. Sawyer's was excellent value for money. The resident dog and cat are sweethearts - if for some reason you don't want to be around animals, that would be the only reason I could think of not to stay here.

  • Liked — historic inn atmosphere, breakfasts
