“Wedding weekend”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2011

We recently returned home to Pennsylvania after celebrating our daughter's wedding at Linekin Bay Resort. When planning her wedding, she wanted a place where friends and family could gather for a weekend celebration. We had family and friends from California, Ohio, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York Massachusettes and of course Maine. All I can say is , "Everything was fabulous". Mark (the manager) was always available for the little things that crop up. Food was freshly prepared, seasonal vegetables were served, everything tasted wonderful. The relaxed atmosphere allowed family and friends to reconnect, visit, and celebrate. The wedding was held in the West Lodge and the reception was in both the Main lodge and West lodge. The resort provided a relaxed comfortable atmosphere. The cabins and lodge rooms were clean, and perfect with the "Maine Lodge" decor. I'm not sure the magic that was created during the weekend could ever be repeated, and for us it was just what we wanted. We were very pleased. Thank you to Mark and his amazing staff.

“Linekin Bay Resort helped prepare us for our Caribbean sailing trip...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 September 2011

Just returned back to Cape Cod after spending our 8th year with our 2 grand kids (now 13 & 10) for a week. What a shock to leave this peaceful place and head back to the real world. We lose all track of time and very seldom leave this beautiful property. There are at least 4 other families with whom we have formed close relationships over the years here and all arrive on the same week each year from all over the country. We are always asked the question.."You live on Cape Cod and your come to Maine?" Linekin Bay is the way Cape Cod used to be decades ago. Peaceful, quiet and beautiful. We love to sail and will be chartering a bare boat in the Caribbean this winter with the grand kids. Linekin Bay Resort is the last all inclusive sailing resort on the East coast of the US.
Ever tho the grand kids sail on the Cape they always learn something new with the great sailing instructors (there are no extra costs for lessons)
We all love the 3 meals per day including a lobster bake, the heated salt water pool overlooking the bay, movies every night, ocean views, tennis courts, the staff
and the same great bartender, Dan. We noticed the many upgraded changes in
the rooms. I told the new manager Mark not to get too upscale because we like the rustic charm. Already looking forward to next summer and meeting up with our friends again

“It is what it is...and that is okay!”

We arrived at this "resort" last Saturday. Upon arrival we were inclined to trun right around and check out. The tennis court was the first thing we saw as we entered and it looked a bit abandoned. The fog was heavy so the view was hidden. We took a deep breath and checked in. The "updated 2 room cabin" was spacious and VERY dated. The kids thought we were punishing them and immediately wanted to leave, call their grandparents and return home. Another deep breath and we checked things our. We signed up for sailing lessons with Kirsten and Ben for the next day.

In the meantime the kids decided to jump off the railing of the dock and feel the bay . I joined them and it was frezsing cold BUT FUN!

We were informed that meals are assinged seating and we hoped for the best. We met a wonderful family and the meals were more than fine!

Checked out the game room and it was a mess! Nothing was in working order inclusing ping pong! Decided to speak to the manager the next morning. That afternoon the game room was semi functional.

Then we learned to sail! My eleven year old daughter quickly bonded with Kirsten and it was the deal was sealed! What a great experience! Both kids loved sailing!

We went on a walking tour with Rupert (highly recommend), met local aritists the Villards and we could not have asked for a better second day! Villard Studios should not be missed!

Walked into Boothbay , crossed the footbridge and the kids forgot about the lack of electronics and were having fun!

We sailed every day. We even deicided to charter a 59 foot HInkley that was moored at the resort with Captain Ron and what a great six hour sail we had!!!

All of our meals were surprisingly tasty, vegetarian choices and three others daily. Wonderful soups! We especially liked the Tomato Garlic!

So in summary, the place is dated and yes they could use some updated bathrooms, a landscaper and some new board games, evening entertainment and a bonfire, but it was aoverall it was still a very memoralbe family vacation. Our children now love sailing and this is the only place if its kind to learn.

So put your judgements aside, take a deep breath, enjoy the experience... wonderful staff and great guests to meet. It was nice to have minimal contact with the outside world. Our family reconnected.

Give it a try.

“Dinner was unbelievable! Wish I could be an overnighter!”

Just visited Linekin Bay Resort for dinner! What a wonderful experience. The food was incredible... lobster bisque and pan seared haddock- YUMMY- Afterwords, sat in the game room area by the fire and felt like we went back in time- Mark the manager was so gracious and let us start a fire and enjoy the whole resort! We also were able to take a peak into the resorts guests dining room! How charming- assigned seating for your family.... booster and high chairs set up for families for breakfast- if I was going to stay overnight- this place would be a no brainer- although "rustic" no grocery shopping, no cleaning, kids can learn to sail and kayak- great food, babysitters available- Sounds like a mother's ideal vacation to me! Thanks Mark for all of the info and hospitality- Can't wait to tell people about this place!

“Very Dissapointing !”

My husband and I , along with my sister and her husband. decided to stay at this resort for 1 night. It sounded perfect and from their website, it looked beautiful. After looking foward to going, we were so dissapointed when we finally arrived . It was so outdated. Our rooms were filled with old furniture and the bathroom was so dismal looking. The sink had rust stains and there were no counter to put stuff on. As for the food, there wasn't much to rave about. For lunch we had coldcuts to make sandwiches and for supper , the steak was very chewy. I can't believe for over $500 a night, the quality and selection of the food wasn't better. Also, that the resort should be more updated and have more stuff to do. We ended up going to the movies in town rather then just sitting there being bored. They did offer sailing and kayaking which we weren't interested in. After returning we decided to sit out on the deck, which had quite a few spiders. The last straw was when I went to my room to find a mouse in there. We decided to leave instead of staying overnight. We only paid half of the price ($260) since we got the 50/50 deal on the radio, but even for that price it wasn't worth it.

Mark Osborn, General Manager at Linekin Bay Resort, responded to this review
20 August 2011
Linekin Bay Resort is a great place for a weekend get-a-way in the spring and fall or a multi-day summer vacation. Our 10 week all-inclusive summer package is designed to provide guests with 3 great meals a day from a menu that changes daily (with 3 or 4 choices at each meal). We also provide sailing, with instructors or on your own, tennis, fishing, oceanfront pool and incredible views. In the evening we often have a beach campfire with smores, talent shows and live music at our outdoor bar and deck... we even had karaoke this summer.

We are probably not the best choice for guests who are only looking for a single night stay, are not interested in sailing or other waterfront activities and do not take advantage of the evening events. You really can't get the full all-inclusive experience with just a one night stay.

As for lunch, check-in is at 3PM however we invite our guests to join us for lunch if they arrive early. Saturday is the only day we serve lunch buffet style; most guests are checking out/in during Saturday afternoon and they find the self-service lunch more convenient than our regular full table service meals. Our full menu is available on our web site.

This review was written by a customer that took advantage of a special offer we ran in the spring and only paid $260 for 4 guests - that is $65 per person for 2 waterfront rooms, 3 meals, full use of the resort, including sailing with our instructors. For those readers who took the time to read this review and our response I would encourage you to read the 7 positive reviews we received this summer from guests that stayed with us for more than one day.
