“Such a beautiful place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 July 2011

We stayed in the Dockside Cottage that was right on the dock with a deck overlooking the water. It had a wonderful view of the harbor and lobster docks. The cottage was quite large with a full kitchen, living room, and one bedroom. It was very clean and comfortable. Our host, Alice included a free boat ride to Boothbay Harbor and back. Steps from the cottage is Robinson's Wharf Restaurant, so, there is no need to drive to have an excellent lobster dinner with steamers that is perfectly prepared. Also, there is a seafood shop at Robinson's if you prefer to prepare your own dinner. It was a fantastic place to stay and if we are ever in the Boothbay Harbor area again, we will definitely stay at Thompson Cottages again. Thanks Alice and Dick for a wonderful stay.

“Fantastic hosts”

Alice and Dick were wonderful hosts. My car rental was cancelled at the last minute and no other cars were available from Boston. Alice and Dick investigated options for me and found a bus I could take to Portland (that showed sailing movies) and then changed their plans to drive over an hour to pick me up in Portland. I was very grateful for this- I have no idea how I would have made it to their place without their help. Once there, I found the cabin to be clean and neat with a lovely view of a cove. A very nice experience, and a reasonable price.

My husband and I stayed in the Lobster Shack (one of the cottages) and it was great! We were on the water and could watch the lobster boats come and go. The cabin was clean and well maintained and had everything you could need. Our host were wonderful and even took us for a boat ride!! Incredible views from our front deck.

“Favorite place to stay - unbeatable view, cozy, quiet & convenient!”

We loved staying at the Dockside Cottage right on the water with a deck for just relaxing with the amazing view. Sitting up in bed first thing in the morning we could look out the window and see lobstermen going about their work. We had a comfortable bed in a room separate from the living room and kitchen with all of the amenities of home. We saved money taking advantage of the well-equipped kitchen and enjoying the our own private waterfront dinette. We also enjoyed some incredible seafood at Robinson's Wharf next door. The cottages are also a short and scenic drive from downtown Boothbay and ideally situated for a private little getaway perfect for a couple looking for some romance, peace, and quiet.

“Loved the Gray Cape House at Thompson Cottages”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 September 2004

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay with charming hosts, Alice and Dick Thompson. The Gray Cape was delightful with all the comforts of home. Everything was first class, especially the beds. No scaled down thrift store quality rental junk in this house! Only accessories you would buy yourself such as dishes, glasses, pots and pans, etc. The upstairs bedroom was huge and very private with 1/2 bath, making it ideal for two couples. The downstairs bedroom with King bed was huge, airy, and very comfortable with his and her closets. The living room had a lovely fireplace and wonderful view of the lobster wharf across the street. The dining room table was large enough for six, and the garage has been turned into a breezeway overlooking the wharf for outdoor dining. Also, the water is of drinking quality and there is plenty of hot water for showers or baths. Right across the street from the house is a lobster restaurant right on the docks (Robinson's Lobster Wharf) and next door is a great wine and cheese shop. On top of that, the owners son is a lobster fisherman and will deliver lobsters at very reasonable prices right to your door! Who could ask for anything more in a rental house??? Already have reservations for next year!
