“Old rooms, carpets smell like smoke”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 December 2011

This hotel probably deserves 2.5 stars but I am being generous and rounding up. I have to echo the prior reviews noting how old this place feels. Our room was on the second floor in the main part of the hotel so not difficult to get to, fortunately.

Pros:
- Somewhat updated bedding
- Easy to find (literally next to the highway) which made it an easy stop on our way up the coast
- Relatively inexpensive for peak season
- Room was clean (if you can overlook the fact that everything is so old!). I commend their staff for really trying to make the place look as nice as they can.

Cons:
- Had to park the car across the street overnight in a dimly lit lot
- The carpeting in the hallway smelled like old, stale smoke

“Feels old and rundown”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2011

Nice people, pretty pool area but old, dingy rooms and hospital-feeling bathrooms. Needs new bright paint and overall update. Food in hotel restaurant was above average with friendly, pleasant servers.

“Great place!”

My Fiancee and I stayed here over night while in the area for a wedding. Despite what you read in other reviews this was a great place to stay! We found it clean, no strange smells, and a friendly staff. The food at "The Bounty" was very nice as well. Would definitely stay here again. Don't listen to the other reviews!

Room Tip: We named our own price in Priceline, they don't let you pick the room but it worked out for us.

“overcharging while cost cutting”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 October 2011

Upon checking in very late in the middle of rain, I had been given keys to a two bedded poolside room (the room type I had confirmed on my reservation) which was not cleaned and didn't have any bedsheets! There was no one available to clean the room (the lady at the front desk admitted she was the only employee around -does this meet Holiday Inn standards?), and no other poolside rooms were available, so I was forced to downgrade to a room by the parking lot which gave me a night of asthma due to mildew, and had a stench whenever the airconditioner was off.

Entrance to the hotel from the parking lot side doors is by keycard, but the keycards don't work, they keep beeping red and you eventually end up walking all the way back to the front.

Note that poolside rooms on the ground floor do not have direct access to the pool (you have to go into the hotel corridors then walk through the gym to get to the pool). Decor is dated and begging for a renovation. The room we got had a flat screen TV, some other rooms didn't. Nice little Bath and Body works toiletries.

Despite my stay having been booked on points, the hotel charged me $26.75 for lodging. When I inquired about this, the hotel management told me this is always the case with Priority Club points bookings, that the customer still has to pay a share of the cost. I have already taken this up by phone with Priority Club -they advised me that I shouldn't have been charged anything for the room at all.

“Old and in need of TLC”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2011

It looks good from the outside, but once you are inside you begin to see that it is just what someone else said, an old 1970 style Holiday Inn. The door to our room would not close without a sufficient push as to result it a loud slam of the door. The patio door of our second floor room could not be locked as the latch mechanism was broken off. The free wireless internet never worked all night and still was not working the next morning. The duvet on one of the beds had a red spot on it that look like pizza sauce. The bottom sheet for the other double bed had a queen sized sheet on it that did not fit. The restaurant in the morning smelled like a poorly maintained bathroom, with a decor straight out of the 1970's. This is not a place I would stay in again or recommend to anyone.
