We have stayed here before and we will definitely be going back. This B&B is clean and quiet, and situated in a beautiful area. Avoid the tourist noise and crowds of Bar Harbor (although it is no more than a 30 minute drive) and stay on the "quiet side" of Mt. Desert Island and Acadia National Park.
The charming 2nd floor room we were in had a queen bed, half bath, fireplace, and view of the harbor, plus a small table and chairs just perfect for scanning hiking trail maps or playing cards. There were two shower rooms on that floor, and there are rooms with full bath on the ground floor and a fantastic attic suite with kitchenette, balcony, full bath, and dining/living area. All are reasonably priced, cheaper than a chain hotel, and much nicer.
The hosts are friendly and helpful in offering tips for things to do. This time we tried some trails we'd never been on before, and thanks to their advice we enjoyed some of the most serene walks we'd ever done on MDI. For breakfast, we enjoyed coffee, conversation, and delicious homemade breads, among other goodies. At dusk, we would return for a gorgeous view of the sunset over the harbor (across the street), and in the evening we'd let the breeze from the open window cool the room just enough to enjoy the cozy comforter. It was like a second honeymoon.
We'd recommend this inn for couples, singles, or families as a way to relax and enjoy the sounds of Acadia's birds, the smells of the lupine and other wildflowers, and the picturesque views of an authentic Maine fishing village. You cannot go wrong with this pick.
