stayed here in Nov 2007 when it was known as: Fairfield Inn & Suites West Monroe, LA
within walking distance of several restaurants, lots of good choices to choose from.

the hotel staff was friendly & helpful.

not sure how service is now since its a Motel 6.

I checked in and out in less than 10 minutes. I was assigned Room 147 the night of August 24th, having stood in line for several minutes behind some rather seedy looking young men who had no IDs and were paying cash.

Arriving at Room 147 I noted large blood smears on the entry door. Cautiously entering the room, blood spatters were clearly visible on the wall behind the bed. BTW...I have experience in handling bio-hazardous blood and other infectious agents.

I immediately returned to the front desk and advised the manager on duty about the dangerous condition of the room. He issued a vague apology but was not at all surprised making it quite obvious he was already aware of a recent, violent incident in that room.

The room should have been sealed off and decontaminated by a specialist in bio-hazard cleanup before being rented again. It was not; and no one on the staff at the motel had bothered to check behind the maids to make sure the room did not present a health hazard to future guests.

Avoid this motel as the management and staff are callous and practice great disregard for guests' health and safety.

The upside: close to a variety of restaurants, large room, fridge and microwave in room, free internet that was actually fast, conveniently right off I-20, across from a movie theatre

Downside: intolerably slow service at the front desk, roaches in the room (one dead, one alive) as well as a cricket, no clock of any kind in the room, no little free shampoos (and this WOULD be the one time I left mine at the previous hotel and had none. ) Very thin blankets and no extra covers in the room.

The room was clean but not immaculate. The carpet seemed a little old. The bathtub had some stains and although it seemed like it had been cleaned, the stains were less than inviting.
The water was brownish. Maybe this is a problem with the city instead of the hotel, but still. Ick.

The room was adequate but not great. Even for Motel 6. I have stayed in nicer Motel 6 motels.

Motel 6 has recently acquired this property and have completely redone the lobby area. Evidently this is also why someone had complained earlier that the parking area around the building was undergoing construction.

I have stayed at this motel earier when it was Fairfield and again recently. Although the linens had not been replaced with new (yet), beds were comfortable and linens were fine. The room was clean, quiet, and spacious. I have always liked this hotel in the past and now it is being run efficiently by Motel 6 and at very competetive rates, I might add.

This is a large motel so we have never found a no vacancy sign here. Hope we don't as it is one we frequent on our way to visit our grandchildren.
